when my grandmother was diagnosed of cancer, the doctor warned our family that women may also get it because it is hereditary, most esp my aunties because they are the daughters(direct contact?).They should have themselves checked up for early detection.
I'm just wondering if I'l stil get the disease with the way I'm related w/ my grandma...My father is my grandma's son..

the difficult part is, there is no specific type of cancer. So if ever we'll get infected, we won't know which part of our body will get affected.

Yes, there is a chance. I have the same women's illnesses that my Dad's sisters have. So get your regular check-ups and cancer screenings.

U have one of the the risk of developing cancer. Depends on what kind of cancer, though.
But just because u have a relative that has cancer doesn;t mean u also will have cancer...genetic is just one of the risk factors.
Even if you have the gene for it...there may be variable penetrance. In other words, the gene may not be expressed or is suppressed by other proteins made up by other genes.

Hope this helps.

U don`t get cancer from direct contact, but certain cancers, mostly breast, can run in families. That doesn`t mean every female family member will develop breast cancer, but it`s best to be screened at regular intervals just to be safe.

I would say yes, depending on what kind(if doctor said it, I would imagine it's heriditary)... but you have to understand that just about everyone has something genetic that can cause them to be sick in the future.
