You should have no problems. Here is a site that rates the reliability of dogs with non-canine pets. You Doxie should be fine.

There is no way of telling...all dogs are different. The best thing to do is bring the puppy up with the cat. All puppy's like cats...just depends on if they are exposed to them. If not your dog will probably end up not liking cats. Some breeds will probably be more prone to getting along with cats, but there is no guarantee. I had a Daschund and she liked my cat, and she wasn't even raised with one initially. But I've also seen Daschsi's that hate cats. So hard to tell, just depends on what you expose your pet to at a young age.

I once had an elderly lady for a friend. She had a wonderful little dog. A mix of some sort. She had the dog trained well and it behaved very well. Learn here https://tr.im/tHhdO
She kept an uncovered candy dish on her coffee table with candy in it. The dog was forbidden to eat the candy. When she was in the room observing the dog he did not even appear to notice the candy. One day while she was in her dinning room she happened to look in a mirror and could see her dog in the living room. He did not know he was being watched. For several minutes he was sitting in front of the candy bowl staring at the candy. Finally he reached in and took one. He placed it on the table and stared at it, he woofed at it. He stared some more, licked his chops and PUT IT BACK in the bowl and walked away. Did he want the candy, oh yeah. Did he eat it? Nope. They can be trained that well but most, I'll admit, are not trained that well. When I was a young boy, maybe 5 years old. We had a german shepherd. He was very well trained also. My mom could leave food unattended on the table, no problem. She would open the oven door and set a pan roast beef or roast chicken on the door to cool. No problem. He would not touch it, watched or not. But butter? Whole other story. You leave a stick of butter anywhere he could reach and it was gone. He was a large shepherd so there were not many places he could not reach. Really, I think the number of dogs trained to the point they will leave food alone when not being supervised is very small indeed.
.
Now if we are talking obedience training, not food grubbing, that is a different story. Way back when I was first learning obedience training one of the final exercises was to put our dogs in a down/stay and not only leave the room but leave the building for 15 minutes. The only person that stayed was our trainer, not the owners. Most of the dogs in my class did not break their stay, which would be an automatic fail. I'm happy to report my dog was one of the ones that passed.

It all depends on the dog. If you get a dog young (and even some older ones) they will adapt to the environment of your home. My pup (who is half doxie) gets along with all animals. His favorite thing to do is go to Petco and watch the ferrets. He is extremely gentle with my nieces and nephews and he doesn't even bark or lunge at the geese at the lake.
Doxies are usually very docile dogs. I wouldn't worry too much about it. Just introduce them slowly and don't leave them alone together until you are sure they are accustomed to one another and comfortable.

My puppy does the same thing sometimes! Since dogs stretch for the same reasons we do.. to relax or just because it feels good... I think ur puppy might just get a good sensation doing that!! :)

depends on how the dachshund acts. if he is super hyper i don't think it will work, but if he likes to snuggle alot he will probably not care about the cat. i had a dachshund and a cat and my dachshund wasn't too hyper and they got along fine. If you want info on dachshunds just google "dachshund"

I prefer hair that will is shoulder length or longer, And also since that men who like ladies are more often then not straight, they like long hair because that looks more feminine, as most guys have short hair.

Well my doxies both get along great with cats and as to where you can find information about doxies, well there is this really cool thinking called The Internet. On there you will find places to search for all types of things. One of these places is called google. You go to the google site, type in "dachshund" make sure you spell it right, and you will get all kinds of informations. Try the AKC and UKC web site. Many breeders, even the poor ones, have links to information about the dachshund.
