my friend was recently diagnosed with Hyperthyroidism im wondering this is silly to ask but how do you get it, is it natural? is there a way to cause it? is it rare? its silly because i would love to have that. haha b/c he can eat anything he wants, massive quantities too and not gain any weight at all. he also used to be chubbyish & now hes mr. bones very skinny. i know its an unhealthy thing so you dont need to tell me im an idiot for wanting it & trust many people agreed with me on wanting this problem =]

I don't think you would want it if you actually had it. There's much more to the disease than the weight loss. For instance a fast heartbeat -- very difficult for when you need to sleep or rest; hair loss; always feel hot and sweaty; muscle weakness; tiredness; nervousness; irritability; have to use the toilet a lot. Body processes speed up which also includes digestion, therefore, you're unable to digest all the nutrients you need to. This goes on and on and on, it doesn't slow down or stop. Also, your neck can swell and eyes protrude.

Hyperthyroidism happens because of a glitch in the immune system. You can artificially cause it by taking the drug Synthroid. But, no doc is going to give that to you without an abnormal blood test and believe me, you wouldn't want to.

hyperthyroidism is in most cases caused by a autoimmune disease. and is also known as Graves disease.

no you don't want it.
it can cause high blood pressure, tachycardia.
also can cause other problem due to the malabsorbion of nutrients

It's usually hereditary.
