Most Christians have no problem with this.
The Catholic Church does not take the stories of creation in the Bible literally. Catholics believe the book of Genesis tells religious truth and not necessarily historical fact.
One of the religious truths is that God created everything and declared all was good.
Catholics can believe in the theory of evolution. Or not. The Church does not require belief in evolution.
On August 12, 1950 Pope Pius XII said in his encyclical Humani generis:
The Teaching Authority of the Church does not forbid that, in conformity with the present state of human sciences and sacred theology, research and discussions, on the part of men experienced in both fields, take place with regard to the doctrine of evolution, in as far as it inquires into the origin of the human body as coming from pre-existent and living matter - for the Catholic faith obliges us to hold that souls are immediately created by God.
Here is the complete encyclical: http://www.vatican.va/holy_father/pius_xii/encyclicals/documents/hf_p-xii_enc_12081950_humani-generis_en.html
The Church supports science in the discovery of God's creation. At this time, the theory of evolution is the most logical scientific explanation. However tomorrow someone may come up with a better idea.
As long as we believe that God started the whole thing, both the Bible and modern science can live in harmony.
With love in Christ.

I don't think it necessary to worry about it.
What does this have to do with personal salvation?
It is trivial to me.
I look forward to the day when God will reveal all things to man and then we may know for sure how it was done.
Until then I plan on trying my best to love my neighbor, love God and do to others as I would like others to do to me.
About the whole evolution thing being taught in school; I plan on "deprogramming" children when they have been taught that a theory is fact when in fact it is so full of holes it cannot be called "law" or "fact".
The only law that has been proven again and again is the laws and principles the prophets have taught (aka the ten commandments - oops! - did that slip out!) try them out and you will find they make for a happier life.

What would you have us do? There will always be those that hate the concept of a Creator because that would mean they will have to be accountable one day to Him! However, I wonder what they say to the fact that we do not come from apes because apes and humans are not able to reproduce. Hm mm! Why is this? Because we are a different species! However, a donkey and a horse is able to reproduce a hybrid mule! Why is this? Because a horse and a donkey are cousins! They are in the same family. Why can they only reproduce a HYBRID mule? Because they have reached the limit of their kind, so the mule produced is sterile! If we were related to apes as some scientists and foolish people think, we would still be able to reproduce with apes. But since this is not possible, I have to agree with Genesis where it says that God created man in His image!
Just like Genesis 1:24-25 says," And God said, "Let the land produce living creatures according to their kinds: livestock, creatures that move along the ground, and wild animals, each according to its kind." And it was so. God made the wild animals according to their kinds, and all the creatures that move along the ground according to their kinds. And God saw that it was good."
Whose report will I believe? It will always be the Lord's instead of some far fetched theory that is full of holes about humans decending from apes! Some people believe anything!

I am not going to do anything about Evolution. I was taught it in school and I didn't see any reason to believe it. But I could take very unique stances on this issue, but for the most part I don't care about it, the Evolution/Creation debate isn't really interesting to me because both sides do not listen to each other so there is no point in debating or trying to make you see the other side's view.
Both sides are blind from the real issue. You don't even know what the real issue is.

We have to "do" something?
One theory is taught in school. Another theory is taught at home and in Church. Why is that a problem for you?

What can one DO about evolution?
Evolution is a THEORY not a fact. Created by a man named Darwin and he died and stayed dead.
creationism is based on FAITH. in a Living God who is not dead.
And IF evolution is proved then GOD MADE IT HAPPEN THAT WAY. either way God created the world. PHTTT!

lmao kill all the gorillas????? will you give me a break, please!!!! I plan to do nothing because as far as I am concerned it doesn't matter if we "banged" into existence or developed up through the monkeys or came out of a pineapple's ear ... bottom line is God was the beginning. How it all ran down stream after that single beginning could be evolution...makes sense to me!!

Rev. Einstein. I can show you many polls that say the opposite. If you don't believe me USA Today just did one where the majority agreed in evolution. Look it up. Polls mean squat.
