In looking at reception sites, I found one that had a charge for doves. After the price listed, it said "pr." Could it just be a typo or does it stand for something?

For doves it probably means pair. Seems they could have added two more letters to make it clear.

I hope it doesn't mean per, that would be cheesy, you never release single doves at a wedding, always a pair, or pairs! Usually a pair.

A PAIR OR PER . I THINK THE FIRST ONE , BUT WHY NOT ASK THEM ? JUST SAY " ANY DISCOUNT FOR EIGHT PAIRS ? " OR SOMETHING . JUST DON'T MENTION THE WORD "PER". MORE GOOD LUCK IN YOUR NEW LIFE.
