You need to learn and understand what kinds of study work best for you. Do you work better if you see the words? I find that when I am in a class, if I take good notes, and review them with a set of colored high-lighter pens, it works best for me. Hearing a lecture, writing the notes, reading them, and color coding key phrases and linking the ones by color that make the same level of information.

Some people are better with aural (hearing) input. If that is you, you may want to tape or record your lectures, and then read your text alound, or record yourself reading the text so that you can replay and listen to it again.

Try to have a regular time and place that you feel comfortable studying. A nice table or desk and chair that you can devote to being your study area is ideal.

Try not to study right after eating, because digestion might make you feel tired or sleepy. Unless you have just come home from school and need a snack to stave off hunger pangs.

Sometimes playing some quiet music in the background will aid your memory, too.

Good luck!

The most important thing when it comes to studying is to find a place that is quiet, as well as aesthetic. Yes, aesthetic. It’s easier to concentrate when you surround yourself with a beautiful setting. Writers, musicians, artists all need an inspirational place to work, and so do people needing to study.

Don't forget that when you study you are creating knowledge. And that knowledge is going to take you anywhere you want to go.

You don't say what level you are in school. If you're in high school, your guidance counselor may have access to testing for learning styles that can help you figure out how you learn best. Colleges often have that kind of thing available too. Many have a department devoted to helping kids improve basic skills.

No drinking and just wake up early, eat breakfast, study, eat lunch, study, eat dinner, and study some more. I'm in your current situation. This is my schedule.
