Hi my friend, this is Kim. My account was suspended :(
This is my new one. I'll copy my answer here again:
I believe that the ones that do that are the bashers. They do not understand other's beliefs and they answer/ask things the way they understand it [or the way they want to understand it]. When some people don't understand or do not agree something they become mean to that matter. You and I are witnesses of that here in YA, the way our religion and people gets bashed and the people that posts mean, sarcastic, stupid and non-sense answers about our church and the answers they give. I have seen the negative things that others say about our church and it hurts me to see that others who call themselves Christians and religious can be so hateful with awful comments to another faith. This reminds me about the discourse of Elder Holland in the General Conference of this year where he was talking about the Tongue of Angels and how people should be careful with its comments. I just read it this morning in the Liahona. Everyone should treat each other with care, love and respect no matter what faith they follow... or even if they do not follow any faith at all (atheists). ^_^

I say this frequently, but I think it's important to remember when reading the responses from different people. I am making the assumption that you are referring to the answers that are sarcastic, angry and sometimes purposefully deceitful in order to draw attention away from what the question really asked.
Fear is the underlying cause of most anger. I think understanding that the person answering (or for that matter asking) these questions is angry, and then trying to understand what may be driving that fear is critical in understanding their point of view.
I truly think people are afraid of being wrong and if they are wrong, what that would really mean in their life. The Atheists that proclaim that they are all about knowing and proving things, but they make no effort to understand their spiritual nature. Some religious people will argue fervently that the earth is 6000 years old and make assumptions about the Bible that cannot possibly be correct. Why do either of them do it? Because they are afraid of what being wrong means and they are not willing to put forth the effort to do what it takes to find truth.
Some people say you don't have to practice a religion to understand it, and I agree with that, but you do have to have your facts about the religion correct. Most of the time they don't. I read the same old tired, predudiced, sterotyped, incorrect statements that they think, whether they are Atheist or Christian, somehow will become true if they say it enough times on the internet. They use the same old incorrect references, because otherwise they would have to actually learn something different than what they have believed to be true and that is scary to them.
Next time you see an answer that is sarcastic or angry, think about where the fear is coming from and try to respond based on that. I think it can be helpful.

There's really no way to justify that kind of behavior, or even understand it.
My only guess would be that some people can't stand it when people disagree with them. They take things here WAY too seriously, so anytime a touchy subject comes up, they feel they have to speak like an authority figure, and they make it seem like everyone else's opinion is dirt. It's just to feed their own pathetic egos.
Isn't it ironic that a lot of the "know-it-all's" in this section are often the most ignorant?
I do agree with Liesel that some people ARE knowledgable about other faiths, but it seems the vast majority on here are talking out of their rear ends when they bash another belief system.

They answer with what they have heard from others, not true knowledge. If a person studies a religion and then it has some things that they don't agree with, they tend to like to make the rest of the religion worse than it really is.
I don't care what relgion you are, if you believe in God, the Father, and Jesus Christ as the Savior of the world, and the Holy Ghost, then at least you have some truth in your beliefs.
I am not an expert even in my own relgion, no one is, they have knowledge about it, but there is always more to learn.

Questions are posted here for each of us to answer. We answer them from various viewpoints and cultural backgrounds. I am an atheist, yet answered a question about christianity and catholicism earlier. I do not practice either faith, why did I answer the question? Because I wanted to be certain that my viewpoint was included. We each of us is very certain that we know the answers, all we are trying to do is to open someone else's mind to what we believe in the hope that they will see reason as we see it.

We are all experts in our own little worlds. We all MUST be right our egos will not allow us to accept that we could be wrong. This is the mindset that causes wars hatred and discontent in this world only on a smaller scale. And some of them are are just smart asses who are in need of attention from their parents and come here looking for it. ( Go to beddy bye sweet hearts)
Myself I am not a particular DENOMINATION but am a practicing christian, Albeit not always a very good one. Thank Heavens God is good and will forgive my potty mouth sense of humor. I'm Not an expert just another smart *** looking for a little glory.

Honestly?
When people are able to seperate themself from faith itself, it is easier to see every aspect abotu the faith as a whole. And I'm talking all religions. When I stepped back and looked at religion and really took the time to learn it, I knew I really couldn't pick just one, because there are great and negative aspects of all religions.
People who are answering expertly are usually the people who have taken a step back. They are far less judgemental about the questions being asked, because they usually don't have the strong and centered view of a particular religion.

because speaking for myself I sometimes think of my self as an expert, but then i am jolted back to the reality that I'm not. Which is why I now purposefully try not to sound like and expert to the point where i may add at the end of my answer "I could be wrong"
