The world is an ending cycle which repeats itself every 5,000 years.This means that the history and geography of the world will repeat every 5,000 years. For instance, Christ died about 2000 years ago so on account of the 5000 year cycle, he has to come back again as Christ in the same body in the same place with the same parents and go through the same ritual of establishing the christian religion et al.
Your question is akin to asking which of the two came first, the egg or the chicken. In this instance,however, the soul (you)and the cycle(existence) are compatible and each one depends on the other so they are one and the same.

We cycle through existence.
Existence will always be here, and everyone goes through it. It doesn't revolve around one single person, but it's in everyone and everyone goes through it. It is also a really beautiful thing for those who embrace it and take advantage of it fully. =]

Existence IS. It doesn't cycle through anything and nothing cycles through it. You do, however, stare through a telescope trying to find yourself, and that can be exciting.
