okay, so I'm 14, I'm 5'0 ft tall, and I weigh 118 lbs. I also wear a size 4/5 jean. It's a lot more than most girls at my school weigh at 1-3 inches taller than myself, and most girls are in a size 0 or 1. I'm starting school in 2 months, I'd like to be down to 100-105 lbs by the start of school. Does anyone know of any diets or things they have tried that could help me reach my goal? I tried slimfast, and it has helped me shed 7 lbs in the past 3 months, but i would really like something thats a bit faster.
Thank you!
and please, no mean or stupid comments!

Bri your going through a difficult time in your life and it's ok. I know you want to be thin like everyone does at your age and that ok also. However, your body is at a phase that will cause you to gain and loose weight randomly regardless of diets. The important thing is that you maintain a healthly positive diet and fitness routine to compliment it.

As you become more fit you will weigh more than others that are not fit and that's ok. The thing is to remember is are you healthy mind, body and spirit. If so, you will shine far more than any 0 or 1 size girl in your school.

But to help you loose weight drink plenty of water as it helps you burn calories to loose weight. second, work on building muscle as muscle helps burn fat. Third, do cardio workouts like running, walking fast, jump rope, jumping jacks, riding a bike, swimming, etc. make a point to increase your heart rate as it will help you burn more calories. You must also remember to rest at least 7 hours a day to allow your body to heal itself. Don't over do yourself in trying to combine it all in one day. Take it slow and develop your form as it will take time to adjust to new habits. For help on eating healthy go to my site www.thedoctorsclub.net

You're at a great weight for your age, height, and size! Why would you want to be like everyone else? You should just accept yourself as you are, the perfect weight. Society these days puts too much pressure on young women, and makes them believe they need to weigh "X" amount or else they're fat.
IF you are dead serious about losing weight, I suggest watching what you eat, and working out.
You should consume no more than 1200-1500 calories a day. Stop eating at fast food (if you do) and drink lots of water, no soda's (I use soda's as a reward for myself for having a good workout week, or for losing weight).

Workout. Go running or walk around your neighborhood. Buy some cheap light weights to add resistance training. Grab yourself a copy of Fitness magazine, or Self magazine. both give great workout tips for women of all ages.

Okay Bri, first, don’t panic and slow down.

You think you have a 2 months deadline (when school starts…) but it is simply not true (if you want to succeed).
You do not have a deadline…you simply have a goal and no matter how long it takes, you can reach that goal, little by little, until you get there, unless you make it impossible by having an imposed deadline that you cannot meet. (who will care what you look like the first day of school, everybody will be too busy worrying what you think about them…after their devastatingly destructive summer diet)

You weigh 118 lbs and you’d like to be down to 100-105 in two months…
Did you gain those 18 extra pounds in two months?…no you did not.
So how can you expect to lose them in two months…especially when losing weight is so, so much more difficult than gaining it.

A pound of fat is just 3,500 calories that you ate, over a period of time, and that you did not use so your body just put it in storage in your fat cells in case you might need those later because your body is a marvelous system and only think about your well being.

Just eat 250 calories more than you use every day and you will easily gain two pounds of pure extra fat a month (not including all the water retention weight). It is very easy to eat 250 calories extra (just eat either one M&M little tiny bag or a Snickers Bar or a Mars Bar or just half of a Big Mac, not even the whole thing, or one serving of small fries) but it is extremely hard to use and lose 250 calories, because it means 40 minutes biking and sweating or one hour of walking and it takes more time and effort than eating a small serving of French fries. And after that hour of walking, you just realize you used the equivalent of one fourteenth of one pound of fat! so you have to do it again 14 times in order to lose one pound of fat…

You have to rethink your situation in order to master it.
Forget about what size you wear and what size other girls wear and how tall they are and when school starts.
Forget about slimfast and any diet pills or books and losing weight as fast as you can.
The slower you lose weight, the better it is…because faster is just water weight and slower BMR,

The BMR…very important. It is the Basal Metabolic Rate. The number of calories you need to just survive.

BMR: women: lbs x 0.453 = kilograms x 7.18 + 795
(BMR: men: lbs x 0.453 = kilograms x 10.2 + 879)

So if you’re 118lbs, then your BMR is 1,178, rounded up to 1,180 calories.
Never, ever, ever eat less than your BMR, otherwise your body (thinking you do not have access to food and wanting to save your life) will just adjust and lower it so you will even need less calories.

So eat at least 1,180 calories/day.
Then, exercise in order to lose extra fat reserve.
Low cardios exercises will start to burn your fat reserve after about 20 to 30 minutes…so let’s say you use about 32 calories a mile on a stationary bicycle, you would need about 27 ½ miles (about 2h15 at low intensity) to burn one quarter of a pound of fat. Do that 4 times over two weeks and one whole pound of fat would be taken care of.

If you do not have a stationary bicycle, use a real one and count more calories because you will have hills. Or just walk for 80 calories/miles of jog and cover your mile faster.

Do some strength training and weight training so you can build muscle, be and feel stronger and get your metabolism going. At your level, you just need a 1.5lbs, 2.5lbs,5lbs and 8lbs or use anything in your house that is as heavy as those (water bottle, bag full of sand…whatever).

If you get in shape and gain 4 pounds of muscle mass, those 4 pounds will need one pound of fat every month to just maintain them.
(each lbs of muscle needs 30 cal/day = 900/month x 4 lbs of muscle =3,600 cal/month = + one pound of fat)

So you could lose 2 pounds of fat because you are doing low cardios and 1 pound of fat because you gain muscle mass so every month, you would lose 3 pounds of fat.

So, if you watch your diet and do not eat more than your BMR (and no less) and you do some low intensity cardios and you build some muscle mass doing weight training (4lbs of muscle mass is average) then you will get healthier and stronger and your body will reach its potential in all its beauty.

Muscle mass makes your stronger and healthier but it also takes three times less space than fat mass so it makes you thinner too…and you don’t even have to lose weight!

When you replace one pound of fat mass by one pound of muscle mass…you get thinner…not lighter but thinner since muscle mass, for the same weight as fat mass, takes three times less space.

Forget about the scale and measure yourself with a tape measure.
Watch your calories intake, do a lot a low cardios, built some muscle mass and watch yourself get thinner and thinner but not necessarily lighter.

Do not focus on losing weight, that many pounds in that many months. Forget about weight and losing any of it. Focus on gaining weight…the muscle mass you need to take care of the fat reserve in the long run.

Exercise and do strength training so your fat reserve, in the long run, will automatically disappear, without you having anything to do about it…then you will have to keep exercising and start eating more because your metabolism will be higher.

Give yourself a few months to get there…not just 2 months. You are going to gain weight (muscle mass) so you can later lose weight (fat reserve) so just watch your diet, exercise and get in shape and in six months, everybody at your school will wonder how you can be so thin and eat so much (just don’t tell them your weight because they won’t understand how you can weight more than them but still be thinner that them).

I wish you the best.
