The weather in Bangkok has been very nice lately, it is not so humid like usual, but it has been raining every day for the last two weeks. I also know that it has rained in Phuket, but not as much as in Bangkok.
The grand china princess hotel is located in Chinatown. From there to Pantip plaza is about 30 to 40 minutes by taxi, it will cost you around 100 Baht, the MBK center is just 10 minutes from Pantip plaza.
In my opinion things in Thailand are cheap, but the quality is not as good as other countries, but way much better than chinese quality.
If you are in Bangkok I recommend you to see the river market and the grand palace. Don't miss them.
In Phuket there is a travel agency for every 10 square metters, so you wont have any problems booking excursions.
Nightlife in Bangkok is good, when you are here look for MK magazine, you will find it in all department stores. it will tell you where to go. Night life in Phuket is also good. Drinks are not that expensive, from 2 US dollar to 4 dollars.
ATM machines are everywhere, you will receive the money in Thai Baht.

I hope this helps.

I don't know that much about Bangkok. but I lived it Patong for 3 years. I just moved back to the US last week :(
There are some nice temples and elephant farms that are a bit out of the way on Phuket. I suggest you join a group tour to see it all. they have travel desks all ove town. I'm pretty sure you can arrange fishing trips through them as well.
It is possible to rent a bike, but Patong is small enough that you walk most places or get a bike taxi. 40 baht will get you a ride anywhere. credit cards are not accepted everywhere, it's best to carry some cash. You can book trips and pay hotels with the card, but for shopping cash is king. It's very easy to withdraw at any atm. Siam Commercial bank (the purple one) charges no international fee. The yellow one-don't remember what it's called-is also good. 10,000 baht is about 325 USD and should last a good week for food and shopping. good things to shop for are cute tank tops, beach dresses and every kind of flip flop under the sun. The bags are all fake, so watch out. When my friend visited, she brought shorts and underwear, and bought all her tops and shoes :) Jewelry is also nice in wood and jade.
The nightlife is fun, but cheesy. Beers go for 60, a vodka tonic 100. I usual just tip with a 10 baht coin. Nightlife centers around Bangla Road. You'll know it when you see it, it's lined with open air beer bars. The best spot for people watching is "the Shipwreck" it's in the center of everything worth watching. Tiger on the same street is a good club. a mix of Thais and tourisits.
Extra stuff to try is parasailing at the beach (love it), and always stick aound for the sunset. If you get a rainy day, check out the new mall, Jungceylon. That will keep you busy for hours, an you can duck into the Ceylon Pub there for frosty ones and fresh cooked peanuts.
I really hope you enjoy your trip!

The weather is usually hot but it can be heavy rain at nite so don't wear your good shoes out at night.

Grand China Princess is in West Bangkok so you will need a taxi to Pantip and MBK.

Chatuchak market or "JJ" market for short is the best for shopping but only open at the weekend.

The clothes are much smaller than in Western countries because most (not all ) Thais are smaller.

it is 50/50 if the shoes will last. I have some shoes that have lasted a few years from there.

Of course all the money from ATM (Whole in the wall machines) is in baht.

You can book boating trips and bikes in Phuket.

Night life? your female so dont be scared off by the many hookers in Phuket - it is just the way it is.

Recommend travelling to Chiang Mai,PP Island, Koh Samed, Koh Samui; Those places are in different directions in Thailand but really nice to travel, not only for tourists but for Thais as well. Things to do, obviously eat great foods, especially seafoods, Thai foods; have Thai traditional massage (which will cost you 70 dollars an hour in the US, but a mere 15-20 dollars per two hours in Bangkok, and much much much better.) If you feel like the forest, go to Khao Yai and campt there; remember there're real tigers, elephants, deers, monkeys, snakes in the wild, which can visit you at night time. Stay on the place they advised you too. Hell lots of things to do in Thailand and I'm taking vacation next week to go around...Have fun.

Some of the markets are great places to pick up bargain shoes and clothes, among other items.
In Bangkok check out, Temple of the Dawn, The grand palace, Temple of the reclining buddha, Chinatown, Lumphini Park, and one of the best clubs would be Sky Bar.
I hope you have a great holiday, ask your travel agent any questions you may have, as they have imformation booklets they can provide about your holiday.

it really depends on the weather but it should be fine. as far as MBK take the skytrain there it would be much faster if you can take it. You should know as a warning most taxi's dont exactly speak english i should know this as i've lived in thailand off and on, and be careful as taxi's will try to rip you off, make sure the use the meter, this is in bangkok mind you, not sure how many times you have been to bangkok but have your hotel write in thai that you are wanting to go to a certain place, as far as how cheap clothes are and shoes it really depends where you go, try the weekend market its located on one of the skytrain exists, you'll find really cheap deals there and cheap food, aww phuket loved in there, yes you can get fishing tours they have agencies all over patong beach, just make sure you dont get rip off most are pretty nice though and should work with you, night life depends i was there in 2004 they do have clubs and different things. motorbikes you can rent i did just make sure you wear a helmet though when i was down there they checked me, drinks really depend where your go and what time they do have happy hour there, check out the 7-11 or family mart to you'll find cheap drinks there to if yoru not wanting to pay lots, credit cards are accepted but not everywhere, take cash but you'll rarely need to much like 1000 baht a day enough, withdrawing cash is easy but do it during the day not at night, yes you withdraw all money is in thai baht, they do have lots of places for currency exchange, like
Bangkok Bank
Siam Commerical Bank
Yellow Bank dont remember the name, if you need more tips i've lived in thailand off and on for the last 3 years but all over from:
bangkok
koh samui
phuket
pee pee island
korat
chang mai
speak some thai also hope this helps have a fun trip and if you go to bangkok or phuket try their movies i know thats corny but they have giant recliners at the movie theatures and it makes it a fun experience watch a movie on big screen in a giant chair and yes they have movies in english to if you need more advice email me at
kennito21@yahoo.com

hi the weather is great at the moment in thailand clother are really cheap jeans $8.00 Tshirts $3-5 dvds $3.00 food is really cheap but becareful of what you eat and where you eat it but i had a great dinner 4 people and it was around $80.00
and it was plush. the people are great and the prices i mentioned are in aussie dollars and you need to haggle dont be shy they love that... if you catch a tuk tuk negotiate and insist you dont want to go to the government jewellry shops cause they get commission for taking you there....if you can go to the crocodile farm its about 40 mins out of bankok that was interesting... try to get the hotel to pick you up from airport especially if its your first time in bankok. and sometimes the exchange rate is actually better in thailand...
i love travelling to thailand and i hope you will too after your first visit ... enjoy

The weather will be hot with maybe some showers, but not so much as will spoil anything (their weather is getting as unpredictable as anywhere else.
The Grand Palace and Wat Po are fabulous (wear long trousers and long sleeves out of respect)
You can easily book anything you want when you get there.
You can hire motorbikes anywhere easily.
Nightlife will provide you with anything that you want.
Credit cards (in posher places) and cash withdrawals are no problem. It will be in baht.
Thailand is wonderful.
