yet some people say "well, we don't know what god meant by "a day"? Why would he say "6 days" if he meant 20,000 years? Why not just say 20,000 years or "a really, really, really, long time"?
It doesn't make sense.

So, it took 6 thousand years?
Why not just say that?
Why did everyone have to wait until the NT to come out to find out what "6 days"meant?
No, it still doesn't make sense.

Paul - everything in the bible is based on events on this little planet. So, yes, if you claim god is here for us, and Jesus too, then god would try to make us understand his words.
I'm not sure why that's so hard to understand?

Here is the first day in the bible:
In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth. The earth was without form, and void; and darkness was on the face of the deep. And the Spirit of God was hovering over the face of the waters.
Then God said, “Let there be light”; and there was light. And God saw the light, that it was good; and God divided the light from the darkness. God called the light Day, and the darkness He called Night. So the evening and the morning were the first day. Genesis 1-1:5
Notice God said So the evening and morning were the first day. When has a thousand years had an evening and a morning?
God was the only one there when the world was created. God tells us He created the world in six days. I choose to believe God over what man says.
Remember the Sabbath day, to keep it holy. Six days you shall labor and do all your work, but the seventh day is the Sabbath of the LORD your God. Exodus 20:8
God set the example for us with a six day work week and rest on the seventh. So if a day is like a thousand do we have to work for our entire life without rest. People like to twist what the word of God says to make human beliefs try to fit the truth of God. Evolution is a man-made theory that does not match up to the bible. If evolution was true then we would not need Jesus to die for us on the cross. If evolution was true then there would have been death before sin. If there was death before sin then this is not mans curse.
Evolution is not a fact for a reason. There is no proof what so ever.

Kickback time in between? Any artist worth his paintbrush stands back and critiques his developing creation? He could have spoken into existence this planet, every other planet, our entire puny universe in less than a quanta. (Did anyone hear a big bang?) Why do you care if you deem Him a "So-called God", is what I'm wondering. Are you assuming you can insult believers by this question? If we could share the same, then why did He take the time to form you in 9 months? I have no idea, but assuredly God knows what He's doing. I don't have to know. He says to trust Him. So, I do. No this is not a case of my Father can beat up your father.

It is interesting that 7 is the number of the ARCHANGELS, number of the days of the week, the number of colors of the rainbow, the number of the heralding ANGELS in the Apocolypse. Seven is also the number of the deadly sins. Seven is the number of days GOD created all things. GOD speaks six times and with six DIVINE commands creates all things, and then on the seventh GOD rests. You'll note a climactic pattern in the number "seven" . .. for instance in the book of revelation the Seventh trumpeting ANGEL signals the last things to come upon the Earth . .. We can see a pattern of "Numbers" in the Bible . .. 7 and 24 and 4 are interesting for the fact that they were witnessed in visions of Daniel and John in the THRONE ROOM OF GOD ALMIGHTY. 7 indicates the number of lamp stands before the THRONE and 24 is the number of the ANCIENTS who sit around the throne and 4 is the number of the BEASTS before the throne of GOD ALMIGHTY. .. 12 is half of 24 and 6 is half of 12 (6, 12, and 24 are multipules of 3 the DIVINE number of the TRINITY however 7 is one more than twice the number 3) . .. The Apostles numbered 12 and the days of work equals six . .. "Acts" means "Works" of the Apostles . .. 6 is also the number of the points on the Star of David . .. and Seven is the number of climax or dramatic Ending in Semitic Enumerations(see below for my reference on this last statement).

OK, let's take Einstein.
If we take EINSTEIN and GENERAL and SPECIAL relativity into account
The Universe is NOT 15 billion years old for we are SLOWING, hence TIME DILATION.
TIME is RELATIVE to the SPEED in which you travel
This is a foundation of Science and Einstein
THE LESS dense you are the LESS NEWTONIAN physics affects you.
EINSTEIN proved NEWTON was not totally right
PHOTONS don't slow in a NEWTONIAN fashion but in and EINSTEINIAN fashion
The SAME applies to NEUTRINOS
Now, as the SUN and EARTH gain MASS they fall from EINSTEINIAN physics into NEWTONIAN physics.
AS the SUN gains MASS it slows, under NEWTONIAN rules.
This is TIME DILATION
As such the elementary particles that make up the SUN and the EARTH moved FASTER during day ONE than DAY four when they came into being then day SIX when MAN CAME.
It could be LOGRAITHMIC
We don't know for sure.
We can't know, because we have no FIXED point in space from which to DRAW a RELATVISTIC conclusion.
This is EINSTEIN in action
Everything is moving and at different rates of speed
HOW can you POSITIVELY determine YOUR OWN SPEED from that millage of motion!
Einstein says, with some certainty, that LIGHT is a constant, but how do you ACCURATELY determine SUB LIGHT.
What is your FRAME of REFERENCE
You move, it moves, they move
HOW do you KNOW for sure, other than with LIGHT, which EINSTEIN says is a constant, how fast something is moving when YOU also move and YOU can't pin your own speed down!
IF Einsteins view of a CIRCULAR (or parabolic) universe is correct, then WE MUST BE SLOWING every day.
That is TIME DILATION
If TIME does, indeed, dilate, as EINSTEIN predicts and we ARE slowing every day, then TIME expands as we slow.
To PROVE the Theory correct, we have to see a change in the SPECTRAL shift as the UNIVERSE falls BACK upon itself.
We don't know how long it will take for this to happen.
But EINSTEIN'S THEORY says it will happen
ONE day we will SPECTRALLY shift from RED to BLUE
One day a QUASAR will shift from MOVING AWAY to MOVING TOWARDS

They are contradicting themselves, Funkmob:
They say they believe the Bible, ten process it to match evolution. Personally, I believe the Bible and know God could have done the whole job in one day.
The disciples watched as Jesus did creative acts, like create food to heal people that had been following Him for several days, heal people who never walked, controlled the elements, and raised the dead; yes, all qualities a Creator needs.
Satan had a strategy to nullify the plan to save us and this planet from condemnation. A biography of someone who miraculously escaped from a Satan-worship cult tells how Darwin was especially chosen for this work. Select www.revelado.org/cult.htm

Further more is wasn't "God" . The name used in the Torah is Elohim, which is a plural word for Gods and Goddesses. Now reread Genesis 1 and put the proper term in "Gods and Goddesses" in place for the mistranslated "God" and it all makes more sense.
Jehovah (God) in Genesis 2, created the Jewish race by creating Adam and Eve.
As to the "6 days" it is a metaphor used in myth to explain the unfathonable. relax!

we don't know exactly, it may be that some "days" took longer, we measure time by days and years, not God. How do you define time to a toddler? They have no concept of time as we know it. A minute to then is a lifetime or a blink of an eye. We are just as ignorant of Gods ways, and when he said "a day" we understood that length of time. We have since the dawn of man been able to comprehend larger and larger numbers, and more complex physics, we are still in the baby stages of understanding what God knows. A day is good enough for me.

God created the earth in 6 days, just like the Bible says. The importance of this is in what He did on the 7th day. God rested on and blessed the 7th day. In the 4th commandment God asks us to "Remember the Sabbath day to keep it holy, 6 days shalt thou labor and do all thy work..." God was our example. He did his work in 6 days and rested on the 7th. He asks us to do the same.

And it makes sense to think that the eternal God based the creation of the entire universe on the period of rotation of one tiny planet in one solar system in one galaxy out of millions? Talk about egocentric! You do realize that 24 hours isn't a "day" anywhere in the universe except on the surface of this little pebble we live on? And that unless you are on the surface of a planet there is no such thing as a "day"? And that a "day" is a measure of time, and God exists and works outside of time, in eternity?
