Did you know that Jesus never promised the thief on the cross that He would be with him in Paradise, that day?

Jesus promised the thief today, I promise you will be with me in paradise. The comma is in the wrong place in the bible. Punctuation is not inspired.
Jesus, did not go to Heaven on that day because Jesus told Mary on the morning of the 1st day (Sun-day) not to touch Him because Jesus had not assended to His Father yet.
Either the thief is awaiting the resurrrection at the second coming or Jesus was lying. And God cant lie.
So the theif could not be with Jesus in paradise on the day they were crucified. (Friday)

I may be the only one here, but I agree with you. There is no way that the thief could have been in Paradise with Jesus that day because Jesus didn't go to paradise that day. He slept in the tomb. There are many verses in the Bible that refer to death as sleeping. This is what the dead do until the resurrection.

Many awesome things took place between the Crucifixion and the first day of the week.

Scripture tells us first that he commended His spirit into God's hands. The Bible tells us that the spirit always returns to God who gave it. We are told that Jesus preached to the souls in prison, Scripture tells us that there are three hells and three heavens.

Would you be so kind as to tell me which hell He preached in and did he preach in his physical body?; which of the three heavens is called Paradise; and where do you think the coma should be?

The only part of the Second Adam that had not been to hell and back was the physical body which had not ascended to be glorified. Before the resurrection he had already obtained the keys to death, hell and the grave.

There is so much in the bible that is hard to understand and people twist it to make it appear to say what they want it to say.

I used to be a bibl only Christian only. I was part of the Restoration movement, trying to Restore new Testament Christianity in Modern times. Problem is people do not want New Testament Christianity restored. They love calling preachers Reverends and Pastors not even caring that a Pastor is the same a Shepherd and overseer and elder. yes they can be preachers, but a preacher is not a pastor unless he is a elder, Shepherd etc. They love their instruments of music and love faith only and once saved always saved etc, etc.

However I hated to admit it when I finally was forced to open my eyes and see the errors and contradictions in the bible. It is plain to see why people get so confused and why it is so easy to twist scripture.

I used to believe that the bible was the word of god and had no contradictions or errors and could not see why people could not just take it for what it says, until my eyes were opened. just my 2 cents. Take it or leave it.

I am not sure what John 20:17 has to do with your direct argument about what Jesus said to the thief in Luke 23:43, but you are wrong in any case about the punctuation. The Greek Textus Receptus does contain the punctuation mark or comma in the exact location as it is in the KJV.

Since the Resurrection had not yet occurred, Paradise for Old Testament believers was "the bosom of Abraham."
(Abraham's faith was counted to him as righteousness. Heb. 11)
So, yes, the repentant thief on the cross went to "paradise" that day.
Jesus cannot lie.
Paul writes under inspiration of the Holy Spirit that to be absent from the body is to be present with the Lord.
(And punctuation was not part of the original manuscripts.)

To be absent from the body is to be present with the Lord. (2Cor) Paradise does not necessarily mean heaven as it is prepared today. Paradise in this situation was probably referring to the area called the bosom of Abraham (Read Luke 16) This was a place of comfort for those who died before the death and resurrection of Jesus.

Iwasn't there so your guess is as good the next but the muslem faith does say Jesus went to Damscus and died there. Myslef being Atheist consider they story which was never historically verified as hearsay from claims of gospels in the bible.
Christ is also reported to have said look inside yourslef to find heaven and god which seems to contradict a paradise after death...

GREEK DIDN'T HAVE COMMAS! You guys can't say Jesus said, "Today, I tell you you will be with me in paradise".

I don't really see why you make this a big deal though??? Oh......... It has to do with the 166,000 or whatever doesn't it? That only those people will be saved? Somehow we all don't go to heaven once we die....

I wish I still had the translation with me. I gave it to someone else who tried using this argument against me. I know the Greek, and because of that your argument has no weight with me.

You need to reread Luke 23 verse 43. It says, And Jesus said unto him, Verily I say unto thee, To day shalt thou be with me in paradise. (King James Version)
Just means that the thief will go to paradise. Doesn't mean that Jesus will go with him at the same time.
