or something and was woundering if there is some way to get the recoil down on the bigger cals. My 223 kicks pretty good and I can only think about how much a 270 or 308 will. I saw some costom barrals already and was woundering if they work alright. If I can get a special barrel what would the price range be.

I have a 14" contender and a 12" encore in 223, there is not very much recoil... I think you are sensing the concussion of all the unburned power exploding after it leaves the barrel. You will have this with all the rifle caliber barrels, the larger the shell the more you'll have burning out side the barrel. The thing to do if you reload is to load with the fastest burning powders listed in your tables for that caliber. I have done this with my 223's and it gets rid of a lot of the concussion and muzzle flash. If you add a muzzle brake it will take a lot of the recoil out of the larger rounds and this can be order on the barrel from the factory, or add by a gunsmith, but a word to the wise, this redirects the gases up or to the sides (depending on the type of brake used) and this all ways increases the noise and concussion to the shooter.

Encores and Contenders are awesome! Happy shooting!

If you feel your .223 caliber kicks hard with a 15" barrel. You haven't "felt" anything yet...The .270 or .308 are going to be twice as bad on recoil especially if you insist on a shorter length barrel. The bigger calibers will reduce slightly if you get the heavier target weight barrels, the longer the better (18-20") but you are still going to notice a big difference in the recoil (for the worse). I don't know without researching whats available now in heavy weight T/C barrels. There are a few other companies that make Custom barrels for the T/C Encore but they start at $350-$500 and go up from there. All you can do at this point is go with a longer barrel length and deal with the increase in price..

define varmint. in case you advise coyote and smaller, get the 223. no longer something you will shoot would have the skill to tell it incredibly is shifting slightly slower than a 22-250 and our community ironmongery store nevertheless has Remington UMC FMJ's for $8.ninety 9 a field. in case you're speaking deer, collectively as a 223 put in the stunning spot will drop a deer (and that i will argue that on right here as long as i'm right here) it incredibly is incredibly helpful to bypass with the 243 or 308 in spite of if a 223 is legal the place you hunt. (It ain't in some locations) A 243 has much less kick than a 308, yet once you're frightened with regard to the balk of a 308 it incredibly is incredibly helpful to shoot some one else's 243 formerly purchase'n one. stable success. I have a Mossberg 100ATR that I bought at walmart for $250. It is chambered for a .270 and kicks like a horse! My wife shot it twice and won't shoot it any more.

However, with a little practice, and a few pieces of foam padding (I cut up an army surplus sleeping pad), you can reduce the pain from the recoil, so that it won't bother you as much.

You will have to go to a G-2 frame for any high intensity rounds. Go to www.tcarms.com for a look at what you can get. I have the same gun and barrel and my wife shoots it all the time.

If you want a rifle, buy a rifle. If you want a pistol, buy a pistol. Why do people try to make one do the job of the other? It is like trying to make a speedloader for a muzzle loading musket.

Save yourself a lot of hassle and just buy a 30-06 Rifle because it is more versatile*...{New or Used} ... If you have a 30-06 you won't need any other Rifle*....
