I've had a pain in my ankle on the inside part of my leg for about a month now. I'm not sure what it is? It's not a constant pain, it just is like a jolt of pain every so often when I am walking, or maybe pushing something heavy at work. The pain is so great it almost brings me to my knees! I can be walking along, and BAM, a quick jolt of pain in my ankle! I've tried icing it at night, but that's not helping. Does anyone know what this is, and how can I get it to go away!

You are describing a main symptom of plantar fasciitis.

It is sometimes caused by bone spurs, caused by calcium deposits, or an excessive bit of bone growth, for the same reason, but more often it is due to your having stretched the tendon in your foot.

Rest is a key to improvement, but you need to walk around, and when doing so you should ensure you have both adequate and proper support for the various parts of your feet

You could try wearing better shoes, with proper arch support and cushioned heels. If you are a woman, that means N O high heels. None at all.

Possibly a cushion insert under the heel will help.

Doctors can use surgery, but very often the above simple means will alleviate the pain, and give the foot a chance to heal. Aspirin, acetaminophen or similar items can assist in controlling the pain.

You might also look at putting a brace/support of some sort under your sheets/blankets to create a space that will keep the foot from being caught and turned while you sleep.

Be aware that healing tends to be slow, often taking six or more weeks, but you should notice some difference after a week.

If it continues unabated, see a doctor.

Its a coincidence that I see this question tonight. This afternoon I was fitted with a boot/brace for a fractured ankle bone. I had been having the same problem as you and even mentioned it to my doctor and he blew it off as arthritis or something since it didn't hurt all the time. Finally, after 3 months, we decide to X Ray it and, lo and behold....fractured ankle. So, you might want to get an X Ray.

It sounds like something possibly neurological. It could be in your back or in your leg, but I would go to a doctor and get i checked out. Good luck!
