Prahlad. Devotees don't see all kinds of liberation as hellish only merging with Krishnas energy. How can it be hellish to be on teh same planet or associating with Kirshna. That's not hellish. The rest is correct though.

"Pure devotees reject the five kinds of liberation; indeed, for them liberation is very insignificant because they see it as hellish.
"'Pure devotees always reject the five kinds of liberation, which include
1.living in the spiritual Vaikuṇṭha planets,
2. possessing the same opulences as those possessed by the Supreme Lord,
3. having the same bodily features as the Lord's,
4.associating with the Lord and
5. merging into the body of the Lord.
The pure devotees do not accept these benedictions without the service of the Lord.'
"'It is very difficult to give up material opulence, land, children, society, friends, riches, wife or the blessings of the goddess of fortune, which are desired even by great demigods. But King Bharata did not desire such things, and this was quite befitting his position, because for a pure devotee whose mind is always engaged in the service of the Lord, even liberation, or merging into the existence of the Lord, is insignificant. And what to speak of material opportunities?'
"'A person who is a devotee of Lord Nārāyaṇa is not afraid of a hellish condition, because he considers it the same as elevation to the heavenly planets or liberation. The devotees of Lord Nārāyaṇa are accustomed to seeing all these things on the same level.'

After trying to enjoy in the material world for a long time, the living being may realise that there is nothing but different kinds of suffering and want to attain liberation from material existence.
Liberation actually means freedom from the influence of the illusory material energy.
The five kinds of liberation (mukti)
1.Sayujya: one with God
2.Salokya: same residence
3.Sarsti: same opulence
4.Sarupya: same bodily features
5.Samipya: association
Four of these types of liberation are meant for the devotees and one (sayujya) is meant for the impersonalists. The four Vaisnava kinds of liberation bring one to the Vaikuntha planets.
Qualities of a liberated soul
-Experiences a higher taste
-Never laments
-Finds satisfaction in the self alone
-Joyful
-Mind is established in sameness and equanimity
-Unaffected by whatever good or evil he may obtain, neither praising it nor despising it
-Remains neutral, unwavering, and undisturbed through the reactions of the material qualities
-Detached
-Is steady, situated equally well in praise and blame, honor and dishonor
-Not disturbed by distress or elated when there is happiness
Controls the mind, senses, and speech with determination
Withdraws his senses from sense objects, as the tortoise draws its limbs within the shell
-Free from attraction, hatred, attachment, fear, anger, false pride, lust, desires for sense gratification and proprietorship
Peaceful
-He is equally disposed toward every living entity
-Treats alike both friend and enemy
-Looks upon a lump of earth, a stone and a piece of gold with an equal eye
-Unaffected by the incessant flow of desires.
Undoubtedly one can attain liberation on the impersonal path, but...
"For those whose minds are attached to the unmanifested, impersonal feature of the Supreme, advancement is very troublesome. To make progress in that discipline is always difficult for those who are embodied." (Bhagavad-gita 12.5)
"But those who worship Me, giving up all their activities unto Me and being devoted to Me without deviation, engaged in devotional service and always meditating upon Me, having fixed their minds upon Me, O son of Prtha-for them I am the swift deliverer from the ocean of birth and death." (Bhagavad-gita 12.6-7)
Being the Lord of illusory energy, Krishna can order this insurmountable energy to release the conditioned soul.
"This divine energy of Mine, consisting of the three modes of material nature, is difficult to overcome. But those who have surrendered unto Me can easily cross beyond it." (Bhagavad-gita 7.14)
"One who engages in full devotional service, unfailing in all circumstances, at once transcends the modes of material nature and thus comes to the level of Brahman." (Bhagavad-gita 14.26)
He reasons ill who says that Vaisnavas die
When they are living still in sound.
A Vaisnava dies to live, and living tries
To spread the holy name around.
