it usually means the booty itches, the glands may need expressing, your vet or groomer can show you the right way to do this, as far as worms go, the best way is to have a fecal done and immediately have them check under the scope.

No, not always. It could have something to do with the anal glands also, which a vet will need to squeeze to get puss out. Also, take a fresh stool sample to your vet's office and they can test for worms. Its always a good idea to test for that if you haven't done so in awhile. A dog can get worms just from walking outside and picking up eggs on the feet and then licking. I would have your dog tested just to be on the safe side.

Rarely does it mean worms. Almost always it is from full anal glands. They cause discomfort if not emptied and the dog will scoot to relieve the discomfort, but it doesn't work. A groomer or vet tech can empty them for you.

No, as gross as it sounds dogs have glands around their butts that can get full and itch. My cousin's dog has to go to the vet every few months to get them "drained". It's something you can do at home. The vet can show you how. My cousin is too squeamish to do it herself. It doesn't hurt the dog to do it.

not always, but you should be concerned. does she have fleas? fleas carry the worms, if she doesn't have fleas, she doesn't have worms. you should see it in her stool, but you wont always. if you do it'll look little pieces of rice. also is she vomiting? this can be a sign as well. you can buy an over-the-counter de-wormer at you local petco or petsmart. it should have Praziquantel in it as the active ingredient. follow the recommended dosage.

You may see them when she "does her business". but the sure-fire way to tell is to take her to the vet for a fecal test- about $20. If she has them, she'll get a couple of yummy pills and within a couple of days the problem should be gone!

Nope, this means she needs her anal glands expressed because they are not expressing on their own naturally. you need to make an appt with your vet to have them expressed or they can get infected and cost you more money. Groomers can do this also but they are known to do it on the outside when it needs to be done on the inside.
