Other than for food or fur, there are so many reasons:
just for the enjoyment of being outdoors
you hunt in the cold, the wife gets cold easily, you do the math.
you can pass the tradition of hunting to your kids
if you're hunting, then you're not at work
snow is prettier if you have a longarm in your hand
if it's cold, then the mosquitos don't bite
and the #1 reason for hunting in cold climates.............
snakes hibernate

Fur and food, you got it. Most people hunt for food and the antlers/trophy/fur is just for bragging rights and decoration. I don't know of anyone who hunts just so they can have something to put on the wall. Everyone I know that hunts eats the meat and keeps the fur... anything less is wasteful.

I think you need to separate hunting from killing. personally, I have had many successful hunts where nothing was harvested. While having meat to eat and fur antlers, etc. for memories, clothing, or whatever is nice, Don't overlook the peace-of-mind, tranquility, and pleasure you get from just being in the field.

If you have been married for any length of time then the reality of what I say will sink in. If you don't get out of the house and do something your wife will probably shoot you; and not for fur or food.

like everyone else, i say you answered your own question. fur for clothing and warmth, and the meat sor food. if you are hunting just for trophies that is pathetic. one other reason is to help keep the game population down so they do not starve to death, form over population.

enable's see: a million) Pest and varmint administration. diverse human beings shoot groundhogs, coyotes, rats... you likely does not elect to consume any of that. 2) leisure. Who cares what you think of? some human beings in basic terms take exhilaration in searching. and because it incredibly is illegitimate to seek any game species and bypass away it mendacity, or in basic terms collect a trophy, people who hunt yet do no longer consume what they hunt in many circumstances donate the beef to a foodstuff financial employer, or provide it to pals. 3) Animal inhabitants administration. Wild hogs, rather, can reproduce so quickly that they might overpopulate andpersistent out different species... or reason starvation between different species from a loss of foodstuff components. a similar holds genuine with coyotes that are outdoors their wide-spread homestead selection; they might ravage prey populations, inflicting different predators to die off. i think of that human beings who advise that hunters "do it for activities or opposition" are people who're pathetic. It shows an entire loss of understanding and information, the two considered one of regulations and of motivations. you're making assumptions that some human beings hunt in basic terms via fact they like killing. wager what? people who do this do no longer tend to be talked approximately as "hunters." they're POACHERS. perhaps, formerly you spout off your lack of expertise, you need to take a 2d to study some thing.
