Nope...I was born and raised in Brooklyn, NY and I'm not hateful in the least. I just dont care about you or your stupid little life ;)

We can be a hateful/rude lot, but there are also many super friendly people here too. Like everywhere else, it runs that gamut.

They're not hateful, all in all. I mean, come on, you have good people and bad people everywhere! That's just the way it is. When I visited NYC, there were everyday people who just walked up to me while waiting in a plaza or a restaurant and just started small talk. I received good service and a pleasant "thank you" at every place I ate. Central Park is a place so beautiful, it almost soothes the soul, yet the adjacent met continues the calming effect while one views some of the world's greatest art. If you need directions, most New Yorkers will try and help out, even if just briefly (remember, they're in a rush.) Wanna get to know the real NYC? It isn't in Times Square or South-whatever-it's-called Seaport Station. It's in the bagel shops, diners, small shops, subway lines, ferries, and the locals that frequent them. Walk fast, think fast, act fast: that's my description of New Yorkers, and that's what makes NYC so great.

I went there expecting to find a city full of jerks. I came back to Kentucky impressed with the people, their realism, and down-to-earth demeanor. Is it any wonder NYC is ranked as the world's friendliest large city?

These points said, "Southern hospitality" is not a farse and is still alive and well today in the South, as Southerners are typically more genteel. However, I must say my home state of KY doesn't possess this trait. Also, I have a supervisor at work from Tennessee who is a b*tch. I met a redneck butt hole from Alabama just yesterday that I wanted to strangle. I've never met anybody I liked from Arkansas. I've had a girl from North Carolina treat me like complete crap. So, see, hospitality and kindness is incumbent on the individual and the way they were raised rather than locale.

Just take my two cents for just that: two cents.

Where on Earth did you hear that nonsense ? New Yorkers are not hateful people .NYC is the must culturally and religiously diverse city on the planet and that phenomena could only occur in a city that is populated by very tolerant people not hateful ones.
So say you're sorry for suggesting that we are a hateful people.

Many people think that ! they are very surprised to see that when they get to the big Apple, it can be a very confusing place to those not used to it. ANY "New Yorker" will take a second to point a lost person in the right direction, and warn them of anything they should know. A survey was done, and NYC came in No.# 1 as being the most helpful to people who were lost from out of town. Many places claim to be like NY, NY claims to be like NO OTHER CITY, It's just trying to be "NYC".

You know what? I hate when people say we're hateful, don't you hate that? It fills me with hate! I think I hate this question too! And for good measure, I hate when gum gets stuck on your shoe. There, I feel better now!

Nah, just kidding. I tend to think we're a nice bunch of folks, and I try to uphold that standard. I haven't seen many places with nicer people than here in New York.

We move quickly, we're frequently busy, but that doesn't mean we don't have time for common courtesy. I particularly enjoy helping people learn how to get around and how to enjoy this town. There are countless friendly people around here. We're practical, we're realistic, we're down-to-earth.

In fact, one survey by Reader's Digest has called us the "nicest" big city on Earth.
