A dog is something that has to be looked after. Fed bathed taken to the vet if sick. Maybe they don't want to have to be the ones looking after the animal. Dogs have to be walked, so they can do their thing. (poop). And you can't just leave it there you have to be willing to clean up after it. Are you willing to do those things? My daughter once wanted a cat. I got her one. Then I had to get rid of it because she was afraid of it. Before you ask for a dog. Think what are you willing to do and not do. If you expect them to care for it. Then they have every right to say no. I would.

An answer would depend on many things. Are you younger than 18? Do you live in an apartment or house? Can your parents afford a pet of any kind? Is anyone in the family allergic to dogs?
Just ask them directly why they do not want a pet dog. Be nice, be courteous, and they will respond in kind.

God told them that it wasn't the right time. Had I not waited, I would have had a dog that I thought I would have wanted, but after some research, I wanted another dog much more, and I ended up getting it just a week later!

You'll probably have to ask them.. They haven't contacted me to tell me about the problem.. If they do tho, I'll let you know.
You have to have some idea why they won't get you a dog.. You know if you keep your room clean or not, or whether you mom has to fight with you to help w/ the dishes, or clean up or help around the house..

Are you going to pay for the dog and the vet bills and the food and everything else they need? Maybe they don't want to take on the expense for something that they don't really want

We are not your parents so you need to not ask us but ask them.

You'll have to ask them, not us!

They probably don't want the responsibility of one.

well, it might be because they are a lot of work. they need to be walked, fed, groomed, and hardest of all, trained. plus they shed- a lot! but I think its worth it!
