This is not normal; in chihuahuas.
it is best to take to the vets and have them removed.
Many people won't cut the nails and they often get caught and torn so it's best to do at a very young age usually at 2-4 days old.

It is perfectly normal but since you have no experience, take the puppy in to the vet and have the dew claws removed. You say you know a lot but don't know about dew claws? Perhaps it's time you started learning. There are many good books available for free at the library.

when you take it in for removal of the front dew claws be sure to point out to the vet about the claws on the hind legs. At that time he can explain to you if it just some times happens. I had never heard of it, but now i have, lol

Any dog can have dew claws on the rear legs just as well as the fronts. I would suggest having them removed by your vet though because the piece of skin connecting it is very thin and if your dog gets it caught on something it can tear easily. My male had one and I got it removed.

It is not a normal thing it depends on if it is loose, if it is go have it removed or it might snag and get ripped off. if it is not loose just leave it be it will be just fine. I have one that has dew claws on all four feet.

some people get them removed bc they are more likely to get caught on things. It's not uncommon. I work in a vet clinic and I see it all the time. It's like owner's preference as to if they want to get them removed or not.
