OK folks I grew up next to a big dirt track in MO, I was seriously asking what is so cool about it. When I was a kid it was racing, now it is more like a day in Washington with all the politics.

YES YOU ARE. You're missing the planning for pit stops, the driver fighting fatigue, trying to adjust the car for more speed, driving within inches of other cars at 150 mph or more, rookies that don't drive well, the pressure a driver and team has to perform well and win.
You are mssing more than you know. The best way to find out what you are missing is to be able to hear the driver talk to his team. Either go to a race and get some scanners or get trackpass and watch a race with someone that knows about NASCAR.
And one more thing. Keep an open mind about it.

OK goober head.
First off the race begins with quailifing.This is a race to get into the race.
Then you have the race..There are 43 cars that are under controll by a man.
Each car has a team that is attempting to make their car better to win.

It is the thrill of it all and the speed of it all. And our favorite drivers does not make a difference if they are going in circles.. is like being in the army.. left, left left, without the right.
