It shouldn't go bad. Check the expiration date. Also, when you switch dog food, you should gradually introduce the new stuff while gradually taking away the old stuff. That way, your dog won't get sick from a sudden change in diet.

What?? Check the date on the bag.. I am thinking you want to finish the Purina and then start the Nutro???
There is a date on the bag, that tells you when it's expired. As long as it's within date, and it's kept in a room that's not hot, or not very very cold, the food will be fine if used within that period.. Ditch the Purina don't even worry about it.. Go with something better.. Why waste the time feeding a garbage dogfood? Would you want to eat candy for 4 months straight??

1 st. I personally don't like either of those brands, but the Nutro is slightly better than the Purina. Sometime those mega pet marts carry Blue Buffalo, which is what I would get if I was going to use that quality of food.

2nd No the food will not go bad in a month. Store it some where cool and dry.

That's the longest sentence I've ever read! LOL

No just look at the expiration date on the nutro. If you keep it in a air tight container or if you get one of those Hugh zip lock bags it will stay fresh for a very long time. Always look for the expiration date on any dog food or treat item you purchase OK.

I pretty sure it wouldn't. To be on the safe side, ask the person at petsmart. If they say it will go bad then take it home and feed the dogs that and get ride of the purina. Or the purina might last a mounth. Ask at the store.

why dont you return the purina without opening it..? hopefully you have dog food still leftover from the last bag to last till the weekends.
i think its better to go buy nutro though.

WOW! Ultra run-on sentence. Good job. All pet food has an expiration date, check that.

Mix the food so the get used to it, slowly taking more and more of the food you don't want out.
