Do they look like small pieces of rice?? If so, it's a tapeworm. It's actually one long worm and it comes off in segments. I know it's gross. Our pup had to get medicine for them 3 times before they left him alone!!!
For now just try to keep an eye on the 'butt worms' as we called them in our house!!!LOL Try to get them off when you see them just for your own sake, as who wants them dried on the floors??!!! It is sick, but it will NOT hurt the dog any.
Just get her in the dr on Monday and he'll give her a de-wormer and hopefully that'll take care of it. If it's a different kind of worm, then I'm not sure if it's harmless. I just know that tapeworm is the most common. When you go to sleep tonight, sleep tight...and don't let those butt worms bite!!LOLOL :-)
They don't bite! Your pup will be just fine til Monday. Just make sure her health is fine otherwise, eating, playing, pooping, peeing, sleeping, etc and she should receive flying colors!
Just read the other comments. I would definately not give a puppy or a dog or anyone or anything a cigarette to eat! That may be looked on as abuse (I don't know), but it's just not a good idea as it could make her really sick.
As far as wiping her behind all the time...I think you're asking for problems there too. You'll probably end up irritating her bottom, which will just lead to more problems. Plus, you're not going to get them all anyway.
I DO agree with the person who said to make sure you WASH YOUR HANDS all the time!!!!!
If it helps I used to be a vet asst. Good luck!

All puppies and kittens are born with worms and need to be dewormed by a vet so a vet's visit is in order. It's normal don't be freaked about it. In the meantime just feed her and walk her as normal you've lived with it for 3 months two days won't kill her or you, but if your freaked see a vet thats' open on Saturdays there are lots of them in the city. Good luck and please try not to freak it's really the norm it's just to bad no one explained this to you earlier. Pearl

You don't need to do anything in the mean time..you wait until your vet appointment, you take in a stool sample to get it tested to see what type(s) of worms (there may be others besides the ones you are seeing)you are dealing with and you get the appropriate dewormer in the proper dosage from your vet.
Do NOT give her cigarettes or any other home remedy and don't give her any OTC dewormer either.
Also not all types of worms come from fleas..only the tapeworm does..

Not to worry most puppies will have worms it wont hurt him for a few days the vet will give the medicine that will take care of them but be sure to start using the preventative so it will not happen again.

Wash your hands thoroughly after handling her. Feed and water normally EXCEPT no food after about 5 pm Sunday night; the vet will probably prescribe a worming pill and they are best given on an empty stomach (more effective that way.)
After you give her the pill be sure and take her outdoors or put her in the bathtub or someplace easy to clean up, b/c they work WELL.
Most animals need a second dose 2 weeks later to kill eggs that hatch.

This might sound discusting, but my dad grew up on a farm and well he fed my dog ( a miniature dachshund) a cigarette. What you do is break it in half and put it in some wet puppy food. It kills the worms, but make sure the puppy goes out when it needs to because the worms will come out pretty quickly. Do it once a day until monday and I promise that the puppy will be worm-free.

What i find funny everyone says Don't worry, don't worry, but this is my own opinion, When dogs have worms they can have other complications, they can dehydrate, they can stop eating, get skinny so on and so forth. It is not 100% life threatening but it can be, I would have asked my vet what should be done in the meantime!

there's really nothing you can do until you get some dewormer for her. It shouldn't be too bad for her though...monday is only a few days away. Just don't be alarmed if you see more coming out..this is common when pets have worms.

Well, my mom's friend had a pet kitten with worms. All you can do in the meantime is bathe her everyday and make sure you scrub where the worms are coming out to make sure nothing gets infected. Make sure you wash your hands very well after handling her too.

Your dog got them from fleas. You didn't do anything about the fleas so they caused tape worms. You can try washing your dog. But the worms will continue to come back because fleas are probably in your carpet too. Make sure you buy some powder or something for your rug to kill all the fleas and their eggs. By the way.... fleas hatch every 30 days. So i suggest you buy somethink for the rug asap. Okay, good luck And make sure you wash your hands because they can spread to humans too.
