I'm getting really tired of this crap. I feel like prozac is making me like more socially stupid and I'm not always talking a lot. I always stutter too and its annoying. I have been on it since I was in 3rd grade and I am now 16.

I just want to be normal again. This drug only gets rid of my anxiety but I want to face that on my own without the bad side effects. When I didn't take my pill that night I got really emotional about something that was bothering me for a long time. And I started from 10 mg to 40 now. I just want to stop completely.

Speak with both your doctor and your family about how you are feeling.

If you are allowed to, doctors usually recommend that the Prozac user slowly stops taking the prescribed medication; they will lower your dosage every so often, until you are off of it completely. Then you will remain off of the drug to observe how you function both mentally and physically. If you are okay and are safe without using the drug, then the doctor will allow you to stop taking the prescribed medication.

Sometimes it is better to deal with anxiety naturally and by one's self. It is even a plus if the anxious one strongly believes that he/she will do better off of any medication; that usually suggests that they may be able to sustain a normally life with either low or no anxiety at all...medication free.

Good Luck, hope this helps!

you are going to have to go off them very slowly and make sure you are not alone. you are going to have with drawals in the worst way and feel extreemly depressed, you may even become suisidle and not even know why. slowly cut you dosage, and by slowly I mean over a period of a month or more. you should really talk to your doc about this befor you try anything and let others around you know what to expect. if you just stop you will feel like total crap, and want to die. while your going off of them start forceing your self to be more social, really there is nothing to be afraid of once your off of them. I was on alot of difrent meds and one of them was prozac and I made the mistake of going off to fast and temprarly lost my mind and ended up in the hospital. I'm compleatly done with the pills now and I feel better then ever before, but I spent alot of time reading self help books and writeing and working out my problems that I had cause I was agorphobic. but I desided one day I was tired of being scared cause it was boreing.... I hope you will be ok, and be carefull. good luck.

Talk to your doctor about getting off the drug...ask him what to expect. Talk to your parents. But, whatever you do this needs to been done gradually....over weeks if not months.

Talk to your Doctor first. You really, and I mean really, have to taper off of psychotropic drugs. Very dangerous withdrawal symptoms. I know first hand.
