apparently you were not at a real Catholic mass or you are not of the Christian faith and therefore did not really understand what was being said. i never find the reading of Scripture or the Gospels boring, nor praising my God, the Father, the Almighty, Greator of Heaven and earth and of Jesus Christ His only Son, Our Lord.
Christ has died, Christ is Risen, Christ WILL come again.
the wine is a sacramental wine - similar to kosher wine. if you actually noticed, there is not really much wine used. the wine is kept and bought in small portions so the wine does not spoil.
God bless you.

The wine is not spoiled and not one drip is to be left over or, thrown away! So, usually, there are attending deacons with the priests! Plus, you have the Eucharistic servers who make sure not to pour too much wine and take out too many wafers!
In the liturgy, there is no wine present until after the mass or, sermon! Due to so many being present, the priest drinks very little. Therefore, he does not become drunk.

The reason you find the mass boring and the priest's words stupid is because you, using your words, "don't understand" the mass.
If you had a greater understanding of the mass, you would not find it so boring, or the priest's words so stupid.

I'm not sure how the stupid things that Catholic Priests say are any crazier than the stupid things that Protestant Ministers say.

"Stupid" is relative. I believe in a variety of religions, and have heard many beautiful and powerful things from priests, both before and after the communion service.
Maybe you just need to find another religion or belief system that "speaks to you" more closely, and you will find it "intelligent"!

You're not legally required to go to Catholic Masses, so why do you care?

If it's anything like an Episcopal church, the sermon comes before communion.

It's not the wine. It's the religion. The baloney you will hear from any religious service is rehearsed nonsense.
