Trying to redecorate my bedroom after 25 years. (I know, I know...) It is currently beige. Beige rugs and beige walls with a well loved Lands End reddish/maroon comforter that matches nothing. Perfect weight though. I think I'd like to paint it blue or a calm green. I am going nuts trying to find a comforter set or a duvet set. It would be nice to have new curtains too as they are beige, and I am so ready to do this. I will not put up wall paper as I have taken too much down and swore that there would be no more. Do you have any great ideas? I have looked at stores, sites, magazines and this just won't come together for me. I need help. Thanks PS Consdiering the comforter at

After twenty-five years, I am going to assume it needs a good paint job. Today, there are many applications : stencil, sponge, dry rag and so on. Faux finishes are not only pretty, they are easy and can be done quickly.

I really could not tell what color the paisleys were in the comforter nor, the background color. I will say this, if you are sold on this set, I would do the walls in the lighter color from the comforter. If you want a faux, you can match the other color and sponge it onto the applied color. This will give you a very finished look.

As for the curtains, I would find curtains that were not busy as the comforter is busy. Just something plain but, very nicely dressed. I would match the curtains with the comforter and have the tie-backs in your chosen trim color.

Best of luck to you! Have fun with this and you'd be surprised how fast it can go!

I like the comforter! Pretty. Although it's kind of funny how you want a change from all the beige and that comforter is mainly beige!

I think powder blue walls would look great with it. Do you like to decorative paint? You could find a paisley stencil design to put around the top of the wall, to reflect the comforter's pattern.

Good luck!

Sewing a duvet cover is really very simple and much more inexpensive. Green and maroon go great together. Black accents. You can also sew onto existing curtains or new ones in a coordinating color to match. Have fun with it! I love to redo rooms but my rooms alot of times just pop into my head. Target also sells duvet covers (mine is a chocolate microsuede). I will tell you that I think duvet covers are a pain in the butt to take on and off to wash though.

After looking at the link, I see you are still married to beige. It's a lovely set, though. I see it with accents of dark chocolate and gold. It would be very elegant, and you can keep the carpet, too unless you would consider the possibity of a snap and lock laminate flooring with a lighter wood finish, that would be awesome. I find it much easier to paint, myself. I, too, have removed too much wallpaper in my time.

1] paint the walls the blue or green of the comforter
2] ecru carpet
3] buy the bedding pieces, etc. that you want now - they always seem to stop manufacturing the things you really like!
4] try to get pillows in all the colors, or in the print
5] add lamps with ecru shades
6] ecru dust ruffle
This bedroom will be elegant, and relaxing - you will be happy to go to bed every night!

blue is great for bedrooms. watch hgtv for ideas. nice comferter. why not try to do the bedroom exactly like the pic? you can do 3 walls in 1 color and the 4th wall in another complementary color. black furniture is very contemporary these days, candice olson likes to do blues and darks alot it seems e.g. off-black, deep gray
