James Randi. Instead of just telling you, he shows you.
I'm disgusted with Shermer over this:

Shermer is my favorite from your list. However, he is an agnostic (unless you have very recent information).
He is an excellent writer and writes on a wide variety of topics.

Randi.
Dawkins is an arrogant sod.
It would be Shermer, but he is an agnostic (because he claims that in order to be a true skeptic you have to be skeptical of skepticism itself).

I agree with Carl Sagan. Sorry to go off the list but I'm an old fart and he was a big inspiration and made me feel OK about not believing.

Carl Sagan. I know him better than the ones you mentioned and I think Dawkins is a bit arrogant.

I would have to say RD of the three, but I would have voted for Carl Sagan if you had included him. As for why: RD is inspiring - You can tell that he has a genuine love and fascination for the real world and he manages to pass on that enthusiasm to others.
