What is not to love?! A whole body experience.
The peace of mind. A mind racing with wonder. The shades of greens and a sudden "pop" of color from a flower. The miriad of textures. The noises and serenity. The smell of earth and life and air. The snap, crackles and pops--not only made under our feet, but by the unseen residents either just boppin' around living their life or, hmmm, checking out who's strolling through their 'hood.
Our dulling senses can be gently smacked back to life in the wonder and mystery of the woods.

I live in Florida now and the thing I miss the most is the northern deciduous forests. I love to walk through the forest with my Border Collies, listening to the rustle of the wind in the leaves above or the sound of the babbling brook. There is so much under growth down here that you need a machete if you want to walk through the forest w/o a blazed trail.

Follow deer tracks along the forest floor. The best place is some old growth Forrest inland from Coos Bay Oregon. Or the Sequoia national forest in California. McKenzie river east of Springfield Or. Cougar River Hot springs, OR. amongst the trees. OK now you done it!!! I have to drive to Palestine Texas to get some pine trees. They also have a steam train to rusk Texas.

Walking through the woods is wonderful if there are no bears or coyotes you have to worry about. I had a friend who loved to do it until she found a dead body...then it became something she dreaded.....Where are your woods? I went though some in Siberia...It was too cold to mention....have you done that yet? Occasionally you can find a rabbit or doe but mostly gnats and mosquitoes...come to think of it I don't like it....Get a bee keepers outfit next time you go...!!

Yes!! : ) It's a great way to relax your mind and just get away from it all. I often look forward to finding wildlife (except for this one time when my friends and I saw a bear from afar) that includes certain species of birds, insects and small animals. I enjoy breathing in the fresh air that the woods give off. I love it - everything about it!! : )

Yes, very much. I'd love to go on another nature hike again soon, this summer. I'm far more inclined to the outdoors than I was when I was younger.

fresh air, trees, life still able to thrive... until well chop it down for progress.
As much as I like nature trials, the more we use it, and the more popular it becomes, the more the parks destroy natural forests to create more trials...
