I live in Orange County, it is AWESOME! I grew up in L.A., and let me tell you, there is just as much to do here in the O.C. I can't see you having any problems. It is very safe almost everywhere you go here. The beaches are beautiful, there is great shopping, amusement parks, etc. Have Fun!!!

Orange county is a very picturesque place and has a lot of fun things to do. I lived there for ten years so I know. If you're traveling alone just make sure and pay attention to the signs on the freeways and try not to travel between 7 and 9am or noon and 6pm. Also - try to stay away from the 405 - it's usually very congested during the summer months.

It's fine to travel there alone and Orange County is relatively safe in most areas but keep in mind that you will have to rent a car and drive everywhere as things are quite spread out. You need to be a very confident driver as there is a lot of traffic, especially during rush hours in the morning and evening.

You'll definitely need a license to drive and a rental car. Everything in Orange County is spaced out, so you can't walk from place to place, and the buses take too long and never go where you want them to go. Do your research, plan out where you want to visit in Orange County, all before you arrive. It's easy to get lost if you don't prepare in advance.

When you go to Orange County-head to the beach. Huntington is wonderful and Newport is even nicer. You might also want to go to Balboa. It's a wonderful experience. Have a good time.

The OC is fine to travel alone but be careful in the down town area. Nobody really pays attention to your race, (I am Mexican and lived in the area). It is a very nice vacation/travel place to go to. Just make sure if you are going out at dark to keep your car doors locked (not that it's unsafe, you should do that anyway). Be aware driving through rush hour traffic and make sure you are good with reading a map.

If that is what you so wish to do, the go for it, get yourself a change of pace. you will be glad you did, theres a friendly face everywhere you go, so do worry about lonelyness, and thats a county of loving folks anyways. they talk and serve you fresh homemade food alot. you will fill at home. ornange county, yes most of the area does have orange groves running all through it. you might have found your second home.

Do not pay attention to "you gonna get mugged."
Orange county is a very safe place.
If you have not decided where to stay, Laguna Beach is great. You'll love it.
Yes, it's very hard to move around without a car.

orange county beaches are awesome. i live in oc, so i know. probably one of the most popular tourist destinations in oc is laguna beach, they have decent beaches and lots of shops and galleries on pacific coast highway. most of the cities along the coast are nicer and safer than those inland though. and not everyone that lives here is snotty.
