The human male is created off the Y sperm. The Y sperm is weaker than the X sperm (female sperm) and die faster. For the Y sperm to survive enough to reach the female eggs, the testes needs to produce a good amount and good quality sperms. For the testes to produce such sperms, the temperature of the testes need to be lower than the core body temperature. For the testes temperature to be low, it needs to enjoy good ventilation. Briefs restrict air flow as they are tight. Boxers are loose and let more air in than briefs. Boxers are more conducive to good quality sperm. Socrates' children were all male. Therefore, Socrates wore boxers.

Additionally, both briefs and/or boxers are evidence of human thinking. Conversely, the absence of briefs and/or boxers (ergo, going commando) is not evidence of human thinking. Human thinking leads to civilization. Ancient Greece was the seat of Western civilization. Socrates is Greek and was part of ancient Greece. Therefore, Socrates was civilized and did not go commando.

Socrates' last words:

"People always asked me, 'what is the meaning of life?' and 'what is God?' Why didn't they ever ask me, 'Do you know hemlock is poisonous?' "

Then he died.
