Well I am pretty partial to the Shih Tzu seeing as how I have owned 5 of them. They are non-shedding, generally non-barking, and there really is no need to pay $40-$50 for a groomer when you can spend that amount of money on a clipper and do a pretty good job yourself. I think all Pom's look pretty much the same. Not much of a color variation. Of course, like I mentioned I am partial having owned Shih tzus, but Poms could also be a good dog. I guess it's just a personal choice based on your lifestyle. Shih Tzus are pretty good with children which works for me, but they are pretty stubborn to train. Have to be very consistent...

Is a polmeranian a new breed? If you mean Pomeranian then I'd choose them out of the two. They are cuter and cheaper to maintain. But they do require alot of brushing. With Shih Tzu's they have to go to the groomers every 4-8 weeks for a trim which costs $40-$50. Poms tend to be more into their people over new people. . I groom them and i'd say about 50% of shih tzu's are friendly and 80% of poms are friendly.

Pomeranians have attitudes and Shih-Tzus think they are all that. Plus, Shih-Tzus are UGLY, so I say Pomeranian.

Shih tzu. They have a much better temperament then a pom.

Pomeranian for sure. Pomeranians are incredibly smart. and they give you so much love. They understand everything. Once you have trained them, then its like having a best friend. Pomeranians understand almost everything you tell them. They dont require much maintenance or exercise. They are really good house dogs.

Polmerainians are cuter in my opinion, but I do not know much about their individual temperments, or needs as breeds. Look them up on wikipedia.com for more info.
