Yes. Please spay and neuter your dogs. They will be much happier because you did this for them. Responsible pet owners spay and neuter so that they don't contribute to the huge numbers of dogs who must be put to sleep every day because there are not enough homes for them.

Yes depending how long you asked this question, but, you can get an injection via your vet 2 days afterwards and then again another 2 days after the 1st jab, this will stop any unwanted pup's. Will only last this one time. I would strongly advise you have this because a chihuahua is too small inside to cope with a larger dog, and she might have problems delivering and will need a c-section, also you stand a high chance of losing her. See your vet asap.

Presumably she will not get pregnant unless he penetrates her and a TIE is achieved but anything is possible and accidents happen. If you are not trying to mate her then you need to keep them separate preferrably in different rooms or in a dog kennel.
You can also buy spray that minimizes her attractant scent to relieve the urges of the male dachshund. They also have little panties that fit on the females bottom to cover her but they are not fool proof and are somewhat a hassle during potty breaks.
I have always kept my females separate in their kennels during heat cycles if they were not being mated. This was for several reasons- to prevent accidental breedings, health recovery for heat following a birth, and to control the mess of the blood and discharge. This method does work and I do not seem to have a problem with male frenzy because they cannot get to the females to lick or smell them.
If you do not plan on using her for breeding then have her spayed for peace of mind and health benefits. It isn't much trouble and she will be fine. If she is for breeding and the dachshund is not then have him neutered and you will really like the change that results. Neutered males more often lose their need to mark territories and will lose most of their aggression and possessiveness. If both are breed stock then get some kennels so you will have the satisfaction of being a responsible breeder by avoiding mixed litters.
I love mutts but there are just too many ending up in shelters after they lose their cute appeal.
Good Luck ;)

I hope for the sake of your Chihauhua, that she isn't pregnant. A chihuahua that mates with the male being larger than she is, can cause a difficult pregnancy and delivery and possible death of the mother and the puppies. If you are sure they have not tied yet, please don't let them. You need to keep them seperated and have her fixed. Breeding should not be taken lightly. There is alot to consider, and alot of research to be done, before jumping in to breeding your dog.

I had a pal who had dachshunds whilst i became right into a toddler named Shatzie (stated shot-see) & Zipper. i think of they're unusual names. The dachshunds i've got had have been named Heidi, Smoky, Dusty, Chelsey, & Penny. no longer unusual names, yet all have been sweethearts! Chelsey is the only one I actual have left & she's 18 years old. now and returned naming a puppy is extra handy as quickly as you get him abode & see what his character is like.

Are you out of your mind selfish? Are you a backyard breeder? Why do you have a dog thats not spayed or neutered living in the same household? If your dogs are not shown and bred then they have no reason to be unfixed. There is plently of cheap spay/neuter clinics around if money is a problem. I can't believe people like you. This world is sick.

Your chi won't manage bigger puppies and you'll end up with problems. Please don't muck around with breeding if you don't know what you're doing. No good for the dogs, puppies or society. Neutering is the best way to avoid this.

Trust me, if they have had access to each other, she is pregnant.
What I want to know is why are you mating two different dogs on purpose? Please get them fixed. Your chihuahua might have complications because you are breeding a dog with her that her uterus isn't made to hold.
