It depends on how much power each "thing" consumes. 120 volt outlets typically can handle 15 amps maximum current. 120 volts multiplied by 15 amps is equal to 1800 watts. So the total power of each "thing" must be equal to or less than 1800 watts.

ALSO, you must consider that one circuit usually feeds more than one outlet so you have to add up everything that is on that one circuit. So you cant have two 1800 watt devices on one circuit - the circuit breaker will trip out.
