Her house is messy. The toys are dirty. Sometimes the TV is on when I come in. Her male neighbor is always at her home. Just seeing him there makes me so anxious b/c he could be molester! I just have a bad feeling about this guy.
She never tells me what activities she did with my daughter.
Of course, I'm not bringing my daughter back. How do I know from the beginning if a provider is good?

Check references, go with your gut. What little feelings of uneasiness did you ignore? That was your instinct. You can never be sure, but your instinct is usually right.

First off definitely a great decision not taking your kid back there! Second...is this woman CERTIFIED by the state? If she is then there should be noone visiting during daycare hours except for parents or potentials looking into daycare. Even if she is not certified I would call CPS and turn her in....safe the other children in her care as well.
It is very hard nowadays to trust anyone with your children. That is why I decided to stay home with mine and work out of my home. When I have a party to do, my kids are with their father or stepfather.
My suggestion to you would be to make sure anyone that watches your child is certified by the state you live in. If they are they have had a background check. Although that really only consists of "has that person ever been turned in for child abuse" but anyways you can always talk to other parents about the childcare provider you are looking to hire...call them all.
I used to do daycare for 3 yrs certified but since left it because I always felt sorry for the families and charged them hardly nothing and made no money
Well good luck sorry to talk your ear off!

If you feel this way, do not return to her. Listen to your gut feelings. I think you are better off putting your child in a daycare facility like Bright Horizons or ALL Aboard. They are mandated by the state to follow certain rules and must be very clean to be open. Leave your daughter in a place like the one I suggested, they treat the children and their facility like preschool/nursery school with activities all the time to look forward to and daily written reports. Unlike what you have now. Good luck.

Hiya!

She sounds a nightmare! The best thing is to go on other people's recommendations. Local nurserys might be able to help or your local authorities will have a list of recommended child carers

Don't take your child back there!

Good luck

You did right. When choosing, go with your gut feeling. Ask questions about the environment. Tour the place first. Ask about meals, safety measures. Do not be afraid to ask questions. This is your baby you are going to be trusting to this person. Be as blunt as you feel you need to be.

Accreditation from a reputable place, and other parents' opinions. Good for you for taking her out of there. A mother's intuition is never wrong.

You ask to see their license and educational diplomas. This woman was nothing more than a babysitter, I doubt she was licensed, and deffinately didn't have an education in child care.
