A friend in my class was diagnosed with a brain tumor, and he's been through 2 surgeries in 2 weeks. Plus he's been through cemo-therapy like 3 times now. And he won't be coming to school during the fall because he has more cemo-therapy! How can I help him? Oh and he's one of my friends.

And I forgot I'm in a state across the country from him for vacation, then I have camp(overnight and diff. county), then I have my dad's wedding (Different state). So the only free time I have is right before school starts

write a letter, give him a call, e-mail, send a goofy card. anything to keep in contact til you get back and can visit. the best thing you can do is to let him know that you haven't forgotten him or given up the friendship b/c he's ill. he's gonna be laid up a bit due to chemo. getting a letter or a call will really brighten his day.

There really isn't anything that you can do about his brain tumor. There is something that you can do as his friend and that is to not forget about him when you start school. One of the biggest problems that kids with cancer have is feeling isolated from their friends. So, the best thing that you can do is go visit him, go places with him when he feels well, be understanding and patient, and just treat him as normal as possible. When you start school make sure you call him or go see him as much as possible. Keep him informed about what is going on at school or with your friends. Encourage him to go out with you, to forget about his treatment and disease for awhile. The best thing you could do is . . stay his friend.

Depends what age group you 2 belong to and If he still lives with his parents.Just continue to be his friend. Go over and visit him. Play some board games or go for walks around the block when he feels up to it. If he lives alone, clean his house for him and cook his meals.

You need to just be there
There really isn't much you can do you have to leave that up to the doctors and God if you believe. Be as positive as you can because he already knows all the negatives.

Just be his friend, don't ask to many question, let him talk and listening... Ask only: what you need and what can I do for you?
