I live in a place where there a sign that clearly says "No Solicitation."
They keep leaving their booklets and knock on my door when it's inconveient .

I'm very tired of this, and I want to complain to someone. I tried calling the local Kingdom Hall and I only get a Bible Study message and never a live person. Who can I complain to ?

Complaint to your residence's management. They have a vested interest in being sure solicitors do not bother residents.

If you can't keep them away, you can use them for entertainment purposes. Their religion requires them to work hard at spreading the word and it's most often parents forcing their kids to do this kind of thing.

You can put "Awake" and "The Watchtower" into your recycle bin pretty easily or tell them you already have a subscription and drive them nuts since there are no subscriptions to pamphlets like the ones they hand out.

Ask them to explain their objection to the pledge of allegiance or why they believe Jesus was the archangel Gabriel and try not to laugh but let them see you stifle a laugh as they go through their belief system. Just to hear the explanation is actually quite amusing and you can convince yourself that they really need psychological help and that will help you have a little sympathy for them.

They are not bad people and they aren't intending to be rude. If you don't want to bother to amuse yourself with them at your door, ordinary courtesy will work wonders. Just smile and say, "No thank you." and close the door -- cutting them off mid-sentence if you have to.

You could also write a letter to the "Kingdom Hall" in your city and let them know that you do not want their members visiting your home any longer. Just look up the address in the telephone book and mail them a letter. They will never visit you again. Almost no one goes to the time and effort to write and ask politely not to be disturbed.

Since they are scrupulously courteous, your letter and your request will be scrupulously honored. Rest assured, they are harmless and they won't exploit having your name and address in a letter. Problem solved.

Answer your door and politely tell them that you do not want their booklets when they try to hand you one. Tell them that you have had numerous visits from them and would like them to stop coming. You are not interested in their religion. If you are a Christian then tell them so. Just a little trivia, the believe the are doing "good works" by going door to door and leaving their info. It doesn't matter to them totally if you hear what they have to say.

If they have been there a few times too many just have a buddy lie on the grass outside your lawn and chalk the outline of his body, then throw a bunch of Watchtowers and Awake! in the front lawn right next to it.

OK, for real, If you politely inform them that you are dedicated to your current faith and aren't interested in changing. They will leave you alone, be patient, some are slow learners!

I think it would be quite a hoot to answer the door while polishing your handgun. LOL

Seriously, I have a 'no soliciting' sign and they still ring my bell.

I have glass on my door, and I will NOT open the door anymore to ANYONE. I yell at them thru the door and tell them to 'get the hell out of here". Yes, they get the message. It's just not safe anymore.

I do the same when phone solicitor call me. I just hang up with them still talking. =)

I answered the door naked...that stopped them or a little while. Then I answered the door naked with my Rottwieler and German Shepherd and that stopped them for a about a year. They came back and I just answered the door with my Remmington 870 and told them if they set foot on my property ONE more time I would let the dogs out and shoot them in the legs and then light them on fire. It's been a month now so we'll have to see how that goes

I've been in this same situation...I told them I belonged to a church and requested they not return. They came back a few more times...but then gave up. I don't think they are breaking any laws, but you could check with your local police department and ask if they have any suggestions...maybe your town has an ordinance or something that could be used. Good luck!

Try what my neighbour did. She taped a sign on the inside of her screen door, locked it and went about doing her housework ignoring the knocks on her door. They soon got the point and stopped knocking on her door.

Post a pentagram or an upside down cross on your front door.
Tie a pit bull to your front door.
Put a dog bowl with a giant leg bone and a tore up bible by the front door.
