46 months or 4 - 6 months?

A good business gift is a nice pen set. Things Remembered sells some nice sets and if everybody kicks in a couple of bucks you can buy a very nice pen.

Keeps it professional.

If it's only been 4-6 months I am wondering why the need for a gift? A card would suffice. If you feel obligated to get a gift, I agree with the other poster, an affordable pen set.

Personally, I'd go for the card, though.

If you liked her I would get her something that would showed that you paid attention to her likes and dislikes, but keep it professional. For example if you KNOW that she just painted her kitchen in a chili pepper motif then I would get her a calendar that had chili peppers on it. Its professional and thoughtful. The thing is if she has transferred to another department there is a good chance that if you stay with the company that she might once again be your supervisor in the future. You want to make a good impression. IF you do go with the pen set make sure you at least get one that is her favorite color. Even though unless she is a pen nut I think it is impersonal. Thanks!

Gift cards are kind of impersonal, but everyone seems to appreciate them.

If the supervisor was someone you were close to, a nice note in a card is good too.

Nice card, nice mini calender, calender for the desk the one that stands up, an organier, stuff like that.

I hope this helped!
