Our outside cat (we think part bobcat) had and absess(SP?) on his head the vet had us lock him in a cage in our barn with dirt(for litter), food, and water, and give hime amoxicilin(SP?) twice a day for 5 days. Today is his 5th day and he has raspy breathing (sometimes out his mouth) and sometimes he has a kind of violent looking sneeze or cough i am not sure which one it is. Is it bordatella(SP?) or something else what home remedys can we do?

Amoxicillin isn't the drug of choice for Bordatella...Azithromycin is.

Since Amoxicillin, which is what is usually prescribed for upper respiratory infections, isn't helping (it may have helped his abscess) why don't you ask your vet if he should get Azithromycin now?

Thank you for trying to help a feral cat, but if he truly is a bobcat or other kind of wild car, a wildlife agency is the place for him. They have the facilities and expertise to help.

I love it when people do not read the whole thing hehe.

It looks like you have already contacted the vet about this raspy breathing and I am sure the vet already gave you advice on what to look for and keep an eye on for changes. I honestly think you are taking the proper steps and seem to be smart enough to call the vet if the cat gets worse. I say do not bother with these answers and keep following your vet's advice and follow your instinct.

I dont think using a home remedy for something as serious as this would do him any good. Especially when not diagnosed by the proper vet.
Take him to a vet who specializes in Exotic animals + mention that you think its part bobcat ASAP ! If any of the vet clinics say they cant treat it because of lack of knowledge, get them to give you some clinic names + phone there : )
Good luck with the cat.

I don't know of a home remedy for bordatella. I have a prevention though: indoor cats.

No home remedies, here, please. Call the vet. He may be having an allergic reaction to the amoxicillin or perhaps has some other condition that was not detected earlier.

My prayers for you and your cat.

try a diffrent vet this one seems retarted. am sorry but if your cats is going to die(am really sorry for telling you this) then it should be able to do what comes naturally to it which is run off and die in peace not in a metal cage.
