I had a 2000 Elantra up until a few weeks ago. The engine ran perfect for the past 7 years (90,000 miles), NOT ONE PROBLEM with it as far as the engine goes. Very dependable, quick and nimble, and always got me where I needed to go with no complaints.

It was hit in an accident (person ran a red-light), but I liked it so much, I got another one with the insurance money (a 2001 this time).

No, my 2007 Hyundai Tucson is awesome and I got 37 miles mpg on a recent trip of 600 miles! Yes, that's the truth - I could barely believe it myself!

If you're having trouble take it back to the dealer right away to see if it can be resolved by the manufacturer, even if the warranty is expired Sometimes they can help you out.

I had multiple problems with my 2001 Tiburon. It was in and out of the shop all the time. I took care of it and changed the oil but it wasnt reliable. After about 110,000 miles the transmission gave out. I heard the newer models are much more reliable though. If you buy one buy it used. Im sticking with Honda or Toyota for a few more years until I can trust them though

Any car can have motor problems. Depends. These are the questions you should ask yourself:
Do you have a used model?
Has your dealer listed any problems?
What can I do to help the motor?
Should I ask other car owners?
Should I take the car into the shop?

Ask your dealer if this is a used model. Ask if it has had any problems in the past and it had to be fixed.

That question isn't fair. Every carmaker since cars were invented has made cars with engine problems...even though the large majority are due to owners not taking care of the car. Stuff breaks-accept it.
