I have never heard of Kaytees Forti-diet before. I use a plain pellets and chaff. Michela L gave you a really good answer so I am just going to add to it. Guinea pigs can not make their own vitamin c so you need to provide it for them. You can use the following site for a vitamin c chart which has a list of foods and how much you have to have of each food to get the required 10mg a day per guinea pig.

http://www.aracnet.com/~seagull/Guineas/VitaminC.html

For my 2 guinea pigs I have a constant supply of chaff, pellets, hay and water. They also get fresh produce morning and night, I am constantly taking out the fresh produce so that it doesn't rot.

This is an example of what I might give my ladies in the morning:
1 celery stick - finely chopped to prevent digestive tract problems from the stringy bits
1/2 carrot - chopped roughly to stop fights
1/4 capsicum - de-seeded and the white bits taken out
1/4 apple (or other fruit) - as a treat

And at night
1 celery stick
1/2 carrot
Grass - I have floor time on the grass and they eat the grass like there is no tomorrow
5 sprigs of parsley - their favourite food

Hope this helps:)

It will depend on the fruit or veggie linked to a comparison. If perhaps you compare a farrenheit to a carrot, the carrot is the better of the two nutritional. But since you compare an avocado to the carrot, then this avocado is better. Both equally the apple and avocado, are fruits.

Here is a website with lists of veggies and fruits. It is from Guinea Lynx, the best website for guinea pigs. http://guinealynx.info/charts.html

I would reccomend Oxbow or KM'sHayloft pellets. You are right, there shouldn't be anything else in the pellets, they should be plaine pellets. If you must get something else, I reccomend Mazuri plain pellets.

Lettuce, kale, carrots, spinach, dandelion greens, oranges, apples, pretty much whatever it WILL eat. My cavy loved apples and lettuce the most of all.
