ok I'm going to be honest... some women including myself love diamonds and some women can care less whether they have a real rock or a cubic zirconia on their finger. For those of us who care again it's not about the money you spend, it's about the quality and size of the ring. You can go to Tiffany and buy a ring for 30 grand or go to a whole seller and buy the same thing for 10 grand. If you ask why do you care about the size of the ring? I guess every woman has a favorite object, just how men like cars and electronics. I can never understand why my fiance would pay so much on a certain toy or gadget.
Personally I've worked in a high end jewelery store before so I have developed a passion for jewelry.
The other reality is that SOME women like to show off to their girlfriends that how much her man has spent on her. It's like a status thing (again, just like driving a nice car or wearing expensive designer clothes/shoes).... plus, you'd be wearing this ring for the rest of your life so you want it to look decent...

Again, I'm going to stress that this is not every woman's view on a wedding band, this is for those particular group that you are asking about (the ones who care about the ring's worth)

It's not important to everyone I am getting married in March 08 we been together now for over 9 years and I still don't have a ring I figure it like this if he has an extra few thousand for a ring I would rather he take me on a vacation or pay an extra month on our mortgage lol :)) As far as our bands to get married they were $200 for his and mine. So don't think that everyone cares about the price I don't and I hope your other half doesn't either. Good luck

It's not.

My engagement ring cost $89. My wedding ring was inherited and cost $0. My husband doesn't wear a ring.

Total cost for rings: $89, and we're just as married as any couple that spent tens of thousands of dollars on rings.

The rings are symbols of the comittment we make; they are not the comittment. The pricetag doesn't change how comitted we are.

It isn't. What made you think it is? Most peoples wedding rings are about 100-200 dollars. Thats not a ton of money but if it is you can always get one at an estate sale for a good deal cheaper.

It isn't even a little bit important. It's the symbolism of the ring that's important--the representation of undying love. My ring is a family heirloom from my fiance's family, and so cost him nothing. I wouldn't trade it for the Hope Diamond.

Who cares how much the ring cost's!
To me what's important is the meaning of it and that the person you love gave it to you.

it's not but greedy women perpetuate the myth that it is. many women focus on how important the size or price of a ring is so they can make their friends jealous. the only reason i guy would ever care is to impress his soon to be fiance.
personally i think anyone who places any importance on the ring doesn't deserve to be married in the first place.

It's not. People make it out to be so important, forgetting that fact that, well, they're getting married!

My ring is small and I love it. I've worn it now for 10 years.

Depends on the woman. Some women want really expensive things, some are more interested in the sentiment and the thoughtfulness. Depends on the type of person she is. As your lady has expressed anger at this ring you have purchased I think you have your answer by the way she reacted.

well, i personally don't think the cost of the ring is important, it's more the sentiment behind it.
the fact that somebody loves me enough to plan ahead and save up money to get me something nice is a huge deal!
