My family doesn't have cable or a dish and can't afford to pay for it. I'm using a cheap circuit city bunny ear antenna and I was wondering what the best antenna out there for getting local channels. I have a normal (non-hdtv/plasmatv), and getting really tired of static and moving the bunny to get a better picture.

Well, at walmart you can get the Philips MANT510 for $35. Comes with up to 50db amp. It worked pretty well for me. I guess the nature of analog broadcasts is they arent very good.

It depends entirely on where you live, how far you are from your local stations, and what sort of terrain and/or obstructions (buildings/trees) are in the line of sight to your local stations' transmitters.

Check out

Enter your address and it will tell you what kind of antenna you need for each channel in your area.

Remember that all over-the-air TV channels will be converting to digital TV by Feb, 17, 2009. So don't spend a lot of money on an antenna that will not also handle DTV. That said, a good large VHF/UHF antenna will handle both analog and digital TV if you're not too far away from the TV transmitters, say 50 miles or less.

If you really need to stick with an inside antenna, check out those from Terk. They have some that can fit in your attic
