Can I plug in the cable that comes from the dish and use it as a antenna for local T.V. channels? Will this harm my T.V. if I try it? I don't have cable or satellite any more.

no it will not work, AS IT IS. The LNB on the dish has a circuit board inside that has to have voltage and signals from the receiver. if you wanted to use it for a parabolic antenna, disconnect the coax from the LNB, strip back a couple of inches of the center solid wire, then wrap it around a screw, and tighten. good luck.

It won't do any harm but it won't work very well. Best to spend a few pennies on a proper antenna. They're cheap enough/
