Oklahoma's Governor Brad Henry has signed an immigration reform bill, House Bill 1804. House Bill 1804 was passed by overwhelming majorities in both the House and Senate of the Oklahoma Legislature. The bill has four main topical areas: it deals with identity theft; it terminates public assistance benefits to illegal's; it empowers state and local police to enforce federal immigration laws; and it punishes employers who knowingly hire illegal aliens. Oklahoma is no longer "O.K." for illegal aliens. "When you put everything together in context, the bottom line is illegal aliens will not come here if there are no jobs waiting for them, they will not stay here if there is no government subsidy, and they certainly won't stay here if they know that if they ever encounter our state and local law enforcement officers, they will be physically detained until they're deported. And that's exactly what House Bill 1804 does."

This shows us one more time, that cities and states across America are doing, what the nuts in Washington will not do. And yes, we need more and more to jump on board. Let's show Washington, what we the people want. Enforcement of our laws, and control of our borders and ports.

Good for Oklahoma. My only question about illegals especially those carrying the Mexican flag if Mexico is so great why come here. Makes no sense to say I love my country I can't wait to leave it. Honestly illegals would win more sympathy from the citizens if they kept their radical zealots in check.

Yes, I just moved from Oklahoma and it is about time we start enforcing the law! Don't get me wrong, I have no problem with people wanting to live in the great USA....they just need to do it the legal way! Good job Oklahoma!

I totally agree, but it is not going far enough. I think those caught who are illegally here should be put into work programs. If they are doing the job that Americans do not want to do (which is a useless excuse for breaking the law) they can do it without pay.

Certainly a much more practical solution than idiocies like the border fence or total amnesty for illegals.

This is a perfect example of state power in action. The federal government moves like molasses when it comes to difficult legislation, because they want to please all the people all the time, and too many back door dealings that we don't know about.

it sounds very reasonable, not that tough! realize all we ask the illegals to do is follow the example of other foreigners coming to the Great USA,, we ask no more or no less, follow procedures, learn english, respect Our Flag, swear to Citizenship and be decent, if not...............go home and learn education in your country
