I may have to go outside for a smoke, but the pub is empty so I have no trouble getting to the bar. Hurrah!

NO!!!
I dont smoke but I feel that this ban is a diabolical infringement of our few remaining civil liberties.
Not content with being constantly spied upon by CCTV cameras every time we go outside, they now seek to control every aspect of our existance

Yes of course - 3 cheers. You never know it might encourage people back into Pubs - particularly food pubs - but if the Chancellor loses revenue on ciggies through this ban where is he going to look next - Beer/Wine and Spirits?
It is a vicious circle

I agree! I'm a smoker and it's so nice to not smell like a bar when I get home. It took me a couple months to get used to having a smoking ban, but it's wonderful. And I discovered I didn't smoke as much when made to go outside.

I like the fact that I no longer come home reeking of smoke. Especially in the winter when the stench never leaves your coat. When you wake up with a hangover it's ten times worse when your hair and skin stink like cigarettes. So, YAY for the ban! I can't wait for it to reach all of the states...

I'm from the states, but I understand. There are many places here that have banned smoking. But all in all, it really isn't that bad. Good for you seeing the positive side of things!!

We've had the ban here in BC for years now...over 10 I think, and I love it.
I hate coming home and having to instantly wash my clothes, and take a shower before bed 'cos I smelt like a dirty ashtray.

whatever mate. another cival liberty? tax? if it's all about national health ban drinking! i love drinking and smoking but it's not like i'm gonna have a cigarette the get in my car and knock someone over or get in a fight, catch my drift? have a look at the statistics and the amount drinkers/drunkards cause the nhs a year. can't even smoke in work vehicle and there's no one in there but me? retards.

Be interesting to see if pub trade does actually drop. I reckon it will be ok in the summer (ha ha if we get one) but in the winter cant see it flourishing much...and yes I am a smoker!
