Is it possible for a DVD player to overheat? We did notice the fan was on a few nights before and then it quit working suddenly. Everything else works on the player, but the sound output to our surround sound system won't work for anything. Sound output into the tv speakers is fine. What is the problem? Any ideas?

Check the speakers by turning on the radio or cd player. If you get sound then check the cables from the DVD player to the audio receiver. If there's no sound then swap the cable to see if it's the cable. If there's still no sound then check if you're on the right channel on the receiver. They usually have A & B channel. Also check if you have the right input selected.
