Have you ever thought that you may have never been a Christian at all. It is hard thing to understand the cross over. To get born again must be even harder. The only way to do it is through godly sorrow, repents, and trust in Jesus.

You have stumbled upon a truth.I have a strange background in that my dad was hard core atheist and my mom Christian. Of course as a youngster I said a little prayer and considered myself a Christian. Nothing could of been further from the truth As a pre teen and throughout my teens I was an atheist and considered myself an x Christian, but when the day came that I truly came under conviction of the Holy Spirit and repented and gave my life to Christ I knew that I had never been there before. Before there was no true repentance. I wanted to be forgiven and I wanted to go to heaven but I sure didn't want to quit sinning. I didn't really see my sin as vile. When I truly converted my sin was disgusting to me and I didn't want to do them any more. Here is a supporting scripture...
They went out from us, but they were not of us; for if they had been of us, they would have continued with us; but they went out that they might be made manifest, that none of them were of us.1 John 2:19

Christians are sealed with The Holy Spirit and nothing can separate them from the love of God. There is no such thing as an x Christian. God bless!!

What an insulting question. As an Ex-Christian, I know that the only reason I left Christianity was because there is no way possible the God of Christianity would permit people like you to represent him. If you are what Christianity is about, then I am glad to be out.

I am degreed in christian theology and pastoral counseling, grew up in a Lutheran home and church, attended parochial school, attended a liberal arts christian university, have worked for no few than three churches, have been a member of a word of faith church and have been baptized in the Holy Sprirt, worked hard in the ministries of the churches i worked for and was a member of.

on the sunday after 9/11, the pastor stood up and announced that he was sure the terrorists were burning in hell and that he was glad of that.

THEN it hit me - finally - after a lifetime of faith! Christians are liars. They are fakes. They love the fact that they can be certain that people are in hell. They are addicted to the judgement of others - both inside and outside of the faith. The works they do are for the praise of man, and not of God.

and if you think that you should now say that i should not throw out an entire faith based on its believers - you are wrong. the believers are the outward manifestation of that faith. Again - if I have to be like you, I refuse.

If that is what Christianity has become - AND IT IS - then I want nothing to do with it.

Next time you find in necessary to EVER cast your own doubts on someone else's faith, remember this: shut your mouth and worry about yourself.

I am glad I woke up to the truth - maybe you will too, someday.

If I need godly sorrow, repents and trust in Jesus, you're right. I never was and never will be a Christian or an Ex-Christian.

I doubt that pursuing that type of question would have any positive outcome. There is nothing that attractive about christianity, if there were people would be storming the doors to get in. Instead, they are leaving cause it has nothing for "real" life. Jesus was the 16th in the suffering son mythologies. Why should that particular myth be considered greater than the rest. It isn't that the myth isn't true, the truth is in the myth.

no I was very real. Read one chapter of the New Testament every day after school. Even took my Bible to school to read inbetween classes. Prayed constantly for people to get saved. Went to youth group every wensday. Was a youth alive leader at my school. Loved singing worshiped songs. Was real. I've tried comming back several times. It's hard once you've let your guard down. I suppose because now you know God's not going to strike you dead

lol-Nah. I really was.Even had that 'born again' feeling around HS. My ex would get frustrated with me b/c every time he made a valid anti-Christian argument, I would yell something intelligent , like 'You're wrong!' and storm out of the house.
One day, I decided to read the Bible so I could argue better with him and it wasn't long before I started to realize there were no good arguments for the book.

Yes, for years I called myself a witch and I fully believed in the Wiccan religion. I was baptized Roman Catholic and hated that my parents forced me to believe what they believed, forced to go to private schools and forced to believe something that I never understood. At first it was rebellion. You know the angry teen thing. Then it turned into an angry adult thing. I don't know what happened...but I woke up one morning missing peace in my life and it hit me like a train running on full speed. I was missing God, I was missing a relationship with Jesus. After 39 years of hating Christains, I gave in and I have been so happy with my life. For the last year I have had peace and hope.

i have been a ex-christian. but then i became an ex-unbeliever. haha, i left and came back!
the hard part about knowing whether you are "saved" or not is that there is no special marking or physical change to let you know. it's something that you will know "by their fruits". peace and joy are something christians can enjoy, but they arent gauranteed. the only way to know is to believe. how backward is that? but it's true.

No, by any marker, belief, act, internal conviction, degree of sincerity, prayer, admission you care to specify...
I was a real Christian.
I became one as an adult, not being raised to it by default.
Not in a community where it was the majority, or the norm.

Ex-Christian atheist.
