No drinking 10 glasses of ice water will not make you burn 300 calories. A calorie with a little "c" is defined as the amount of energy it takes to raise the temperature of 1 gram of water 1 degree Celsius.

Let's figure out exactly what you're burning when you drink a 16-ounce (0.5 liter) glass of ice water:

The temperature of ice water can be estimated at zero degrees Celsius/ 32 degrees Fahrenheit.
Body temperature can be estimated at 37 degrees Celsius/98.6 degrees Fahrenheit.
It takes 1 calorie to raise 1 gram of water 1 degree Celsius.
There are 473.18 grams in 16 fluid ounces of water.

To warm the 16 ounce glass of water which is 473.18 grams to 37 degrees Celsius.
473.18 X 37 equal 17507.606 calories but that is calories with a little "c" not Calories. This is 17.508 Calories X10 is 175.08 Calories not 300.

It will burn more calories (175.08) but not quite 300 Calories

Your body does burn calories to heat the water back to you normal body temperature of 98.6 degree fahrenheit. However it is nowhere near 300 calories, but 10 glasses of ice water will make you feel better on a hot summer day. I say drink up.

no. while cold water will cause your body to burn a few more calories to warm the water to body temperature, it won't burn anywhere near 300. and 10 glasses is too much to drink.

Although your body does burn calories warming itself after the ingestion of iced fluids, new research on the long term effect of drinking cold beverages indicate a lowered metabolism. Lowered metabolism will lead to weight gain if the number of calories consumed does not decrease at the same rate. Drinking cold fluids as a way to increase weight loss, therefore, is counter-productive.

drinking 10 glasses of water may not help you burn the calories but it sure will help you lose weight anyway. drinking more make your body retain less fat and water .it also reduces cellulite and help blood circulation function in a better way. half a gallon is what we should at least drink every day, not ice cold, but room temperature is better.

No, that is a ridiculous myth. It means you can starve yourself to a thin body by drinking or eating cold items...ridiculous, stop hoping.
