The boy's name Jesus \j(e)-sus\ is pronounced JEE-zus. It is of Hebrew origin, and its meaning is "the Lord is salvation". Short form of Joshua, from the Hebrew name Jehoshua. The name of the biblical Christ is very frequently used as a given name in Hispanic cultures. Spanish pronunciation is hay-SOOS.

Jesus has 1 variant form: Jesous.

For more information, see also the related name Emmanuel.

Baby names that sound like Jesus are Josias, Esias and Isais.

The name "Jesus" is an English transliteration of the Latin (Iēsus) which in turn comes from the Greek name Iesous (Ιησους). The name has also been translated into English as "Joshua."[37]

Well! As Jesus was not a Roman he would not have been given a Latin name would he? So we can safely assume that the name taken from History....and Christian belief would dictate that it came from the name Yeshua........Many variations in the world now of course Jasus...Hessus....Joshua(which I believe was Hebrew for Jesus but don't quote me on that) and many others.
'Jesus' does me pretty well really...don't need to ask silly questions about His name to know He is alive today and at work in many Christian lives.
Best wishes, Mike.

I think you have that one very WRONG! Yeshua in Hebrew means Jesus. Iēsous in the Greek. The name "Jesus" is an Anglicization of the Greek Iesous, itself a transliteration of the Hebrew Jeshua, meaning "YHWH is salvation". He is commonly referred to as Jesus Christ, where "Christ" is a title derived from the Greek christos, meaning "Anointed One", which corresponds to the Hebrew-derived "Messiah".

You are mistaken.
Jesus is from the Greek for the Hebrew name Yeshua, or Joshua.
Hence the Jewish Yeshua ha'Mashiach; or Jesus the Messiah
(Messiah = Christ)
