You can pray for her, but there are many other ways to honor your mother. When you are doing well, give thanks to your mother. Plant a tree or a flower that will alwyas come back as an honor to your mother. THat will give you blessings many times over becuase people will view that tree or flower with happiness.

Just becauase your mother has not been there, doesnt mean she doesn't exsist. there are reasons things happen, and maybe you can't see them now, but do you think you would have been better off with her?

Regardless, try not to think badly of her and that in itself is a way to honor her without making you negative. Forgive her, as you feel you have been forgiven. We all make mistakes but do not continue keeping this mistake going on. :-) i will pray for you and her.

Remember it says honor thy mother and thy father it doesnt say only if they love you back. You can only control your actions, be the better person and do not let her actions control you.

I understand how you feel. I had a problem with this when I was first saved. My mother was very abusive, physically and mentally, and she even tried to kill me once. After I became a christian I realized that the best thing to do would be to forgive her and love her unconditionally. We have a decent relationship now, I share with her how God has worked in my life. We have her over often so she can spend some time with the grand kids and so she can also see how a healthy, loving, christian family functions... I think we are wearing off on her, she has asked to accompany us to church. Pray about it hon. Good luck and God Bless. :)

This is a difficult task in your situation. I raised a nephew who couldn't be taken care of by his mother. I always just reminded him of the fact that without your mother, you wouldn't even be here to honor or not. If there is no other reason you can be thankful and honor her for the chance to be YOU> Good Luck!

I know it's hard. But if it wasn't for your mother, you would not exist. Even though she hasn't been there for you, remember she is the one who carried you around for 9 months and then gave birth to you. Honor her, means have respect for her, because she bore you. Whether or not you have a good relationship, you should still be grateful that she gave you life.

Live an exemplary life and people will think your mother has done a good job raising you. That will bring honor to her, and provide you with an excellent reputation.

Regardless she is still your mother and when you dishonor her you are also disobeying God. It's a catch twenty twenty. Maybe her absence served a greater purpose for Gods kingdom.....she wasn't there but God was. You're saved so maybe her absence allowed for more of Gods presence in your life. God works in mysterious ways. This could be one of those times when you look back at the sands on the beach and only see one set of footprints, it was then that God carried you.

saved? Hmm... if your religion is making you do something you aren't comfortable with, you might want to look inside yourself. I was in the foster system from 16-19. My mother ruined my childhood, but instead of letting her hinder me, instead of forcing myself to forgive her, I just did what I felt was right in my heart.
Don't let ANY religion hinder you.

I know exactly what you mean and how you feel, believe me, and It's very hard, but the Bible doesn't say honor your father and mother if they are good, if they love you, if they've been there for you..., It says honor them and that's it.
Try to forgive...

I've always interpreted that to mean live your life well, so that your parents need not be ashamed of you. This can apply to birth and foster parents.

Honor simply means to not disrespect. You don't have to like her, listen to her, or cater to her. Just do well in life despite your past, and you will honor your parents as well as yourself. However, you don't owe her anything.
